Unable to invoke WinXP Recording Control to change Mixer Device to "Firepod" #151643 02/26/12 12:04 PM RealBand

OP Joe V Expert J Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,129 NYC	Hi all, I'm using a Presonus Firepod, and several RB versions ago, was able to use it to record to RB. In order to use the Firepod, I had to first disable my "Soundmax Integrated Digitaal HD Audio" device, reboot the machine, and then was able to open the WinXP Recording Control (via RB's "VU Meters" button and clicking the speaker button) and under Recording Control..Options..Properties, to change the "mixer device" from Soundmax HD audio to Firepod Mixer. Going through the procedure above with RB 2012 (latest updates build 5 installed) does not allow me to invoke the WinXP Recording Control, instead giving the following message when the RB VU meters speaker button is pressed: "There is a problem with your sound hardware. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware." Incidentally, with my same machine configuration, I can use Ableton to record from my Presonus - without having to invoke the WinXP Recording Control and change the mixer setting. I guess it works differently, but Any help would be appreciated.

rharv Veteran Joined: May 2000 Posts: 21,664 Mi., USA	If you go into RB- Prefs - Audio Tab then click drivers, does the Firepod show up? If not try turning it on before opening RB. Make sure windows knows about it. Maybe try rebooting the Firepod after starting Windows, then start RB. There is possibly an 'order of initiation' problem. Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

His latest video, Convert MIDI Chords into AI Vocal Harmonies with ACE Studio and Band-in-a-Box, he explains in detail how you can use the Melodist feature in Band-in-a-Box with ACE Studio. Follow along as he goes from "nothing" to "something" with his Band-in-a-Box MIDI Melodist track, using ACE Studio to turn it into a vocal track (or tracks, you'll see) by adding lyrics for those notes that will trigger some amazing AI vocals!
