I have made a screen using stockings but it still isnt working right as you noticed. I will give your tip a try. My mike is Uni Directional so I hope it works. The lips form both sounds the same way, but the P sound tends to be made with more air, hence the pop. Buried in the context of a song, a B often comes across as a softer P.
