Did a search in help and got the entire index back so.... how do I add 1,2,3 beats to the very beginning of the tune?

I do this by adding a bar after finishing the song. Many times I want a drum fill to start the song. Bar 1 becomes bar 2 then new bar 1 starts with a rest chord, 3rd beat is a rest except drums chord and the new 2nd bar has a part marker so you get a drum fill. Sometimes I have the Bass come in on the 4th beat too. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Change the value in the box called "Bar for Beginning of Chorus" from 1 to 2. Then enter the pickup notes in bar 1.

Maybe. If I understood what you're telling me to do. Problem is I can be pretty dense and I must be showing it now cause I don't have a clue as to what you're telling me to do.
Simply stated I've gpt a song that starts on beat 4 like thie"
4|1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 |
or one that starts on 3 like this:
3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 |
My question is how do I get BIAB to Not play on beat 1 2 3 in the first example and not play on beat 1 2 on the second. I guess what I need as I look at my examples is how do I put in rests in the mesures.
I will go back to that index search and see what it says about rests and maybe find my answer
Yep just looked up rests and that is how I can do exactly what I want to do.
Now I need to play with it a bit to see how to get the drum fill to work like your describe. I think I half way understand it now.
Thanks for streering me down the right path to find my answer.

C. first beat rest. C. enter ,C.D is fourth beat rest all except Drums. First Letter of Track type will give you exclusion of that instrument. Start on 2nd beat? C.,C.D You can use Alt,F5 together to bring up the dialog box for Chord Settings or right click where you put chords. It gives all the options for doing what you want.

Hi earl,
If all you desire is just pickup notes, they can be added to the Melody or Soloist track by placing them in the bar *Before* the 1st bar starts in the Notation View.
One can also Record MIDI in this fashion, by simply p;laying the pickup notes at the right time during the Countin, as well.
