When I was running BIAB on XP, it was very stable. The access violations are caused by conflicts BIAB is having with XP. I have seen this most with sound cards.
Some ideas...
- Make sure your computer does not have a faulty device. You can use XPs tools such as Event Viewer and Device Manager.
- Make sure you have all of the latest drivers for your computer
- Defrag your drive(s)
- Try a 'Return to Factory Settings' found under the Options menu
If you still have the problem, we'll have to look deeper
