I guess the "Guitar-Compatible" Apple is too hard to develop...
That's a joke, son.

I can 1 up that. With my desktop computer I can plug my mixer into my soundcard. Then my guitar into the mixer and record my guitar to my computer, don't even need USB. Been doing that for years. That's a joke, too. Seriously, though, I own a iPad. For me, I wouldn't dream of using it for anything musical but I only record at home. Maybe there are uses for it playing live. The best use I've found for an iPad is lying in bed, watching TV and browsing the Internet. But I'm getting old.

Hard to see how it "opens the world of digital recording to millions of people," as the writer claims. There are some pretty strict filters: You have to own a Mac (unless it works on PC, too; that's not clear). You have to want a low-end Strat. Then you have to own it. You have to be able to play it. You have to know something about recording with computers. You probably need some backing tracks. (We know what to do about that, but not everybody does.) You can probably think of more.
When I run those numbers, it just doesn't come out to "millions." Incidentally, Behringer has had a USB Strat copy for years . . . Why didn't that make the news? Oh, yeah--they're not from California.
I'm probably joking, too.

You don’t need to buy a special guitar to do this. Just by a guitar to usb cable like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as..._-pla-_-NA-_-NAYou can use any guitar you want. Cables like this run from $20-$40 USD.
My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

I suppose this is a cool toy but I am not sold on the "why" part of it. Don't we all already record guitar into our computerized tracks thoguht other methods?
I supposed the market is there for people who own only the iPad and not small home studios where we have mixers and computer interfaces such.
I recently went to see Eliot Lewis perform. For those who don't watch, he is the keyboard player for Daryl Hall and is on Live From Daryl's House every month. He played guitar live and sang over iPad backing tracks just like all of us do.
I use my iPad for music in my Akai Synthstation49 running Garageband. I do it only for the sounds, because the Rhodes in Garageband is great. As is the Hammond, complete with drawbars on the screen.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.
1. How much did you make in 2023? 2. Send it to us.

If you would invest in a proper interface you can connect any guitar and any microphone to your computer, be it a Mac or a PC. In most cases you will even get a LE-version of a major DAW with your new interface.
So I'd say thank you, but no thank you. The AD convertors in my interface outclass the ones in the Squier anyway...
