I thought I'd start a new thread so folks don't have to wade through the other one. I hope that's OK Pat.
Here are some videos. More to come as Pat uploads them. There'll be one that shows my setup.

http://youtu.be/Fj6gk-Fxg7c

The next several videos will be John playing various songs from his set list. I have purposefully omitted the song titles so the videos don't show up in web searches

OK,
I'll start posting new videos here as time allows. (previous message on other thread has been redirected to here )

this first video is actually the last one we made. Its John and I sitting on his front porch talking. Note the sound of water running in the background. John's secluded log cabin has a mountain stream running right beside his porch! He's livin' the life!

The next several videos will be John playing various songs from his set list. I have purposefully omitted the song titles so the videos don't show up in web searches. (I guess everybody already knows that John uses BIAB and RB to create all of his backing tracks)

“Bring it on Home to Me” is one of my all time favorite tunes. You did it justice John!

Sam Cooke wrote and sang this song in 1962. Lou Rawls is singing in the background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6azbeWRkhoE

My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

Sounds really good John. You've obviously put a lot of time in getting your arrangements down.

Sounds like you and Pat had a great time.

I enjoyed that John, especially the bass and fiddle combo.

Pat, heck not awkward at all. You know we would have given you hell if you did not post a video greeting from the meeting. Very cool guys - great to see you both.

John, just excellent dude. Loved the vocals and arrangements. Made me smile, big time. Wished I could be playing guitar and sharing the mic along with you.

I likes me a bassist who uses that little finger on the walkin' bass lines like that.

Strong Performance.

What, no jamming? LOL! The awkward mumble by Pat was priceless.

Seriously, looks and sounds like you two had a great time.

A treat hearing you again John. Good job on the videos Pat.

Thanks for sharing!

Next time maybe.

This is quite cool that you guys did this - with a documentary!

Enjoyed seeing John playing his set and the gear walkthrough was terrific. Nice to see how someone does that. Man! That's a bunch of equipment! It would be nice to hear how others do the same type of thing (I'd like to know what a "minimum setup" might be...)

About the only thing I could relate to was the headphones - I use the same ones to mix... John - how did you change ear pads - mine are completely worn and I don't see how they might be replaced...

Thanks to both of you for doing this...

Hey John,

Song # 5, the original one your friend wrote, has a great steel guitar intro at the beginning. In fact, I thought it was the beginning to 'From a Jack to a King', a tune I'm working on.

Did you do anything special on the chord screen to achieve that descending melodic line?

I wish you had mentioned that. I thought you couldn't play at the moment because of your hand.

well, "minimum" is a function of what you want to accomplish. In John's case he wants full control of all tracks. Plus he uses Power track to send light-controlling commands and also an audio stream to his vocal processor (which provides intelligent harmony)... so this is very nearly the minimum gear that will meet his requirements.

For someone who just wants to mix down their songs to MP3s to use as backing tracks at a gig, the minimum (IMO) would be an MP3 player and some kind of amp or PA system to play it through. Plus a mic if you hope to sing along.

That was very informative guys, thank you. Especially the live setup (I play live quite a bit but a not nearly such a sophisticated setup and I only play small venues). I really liked the way you program your lights and control them via midi.
Thanks so much for posting.
