My young lady, well compared to me grin ,had been going on at me about something that had happened to her which ended up somehow being my fault!!!Grrr
The words just flowed as I later strummed some chords! and so this appeared. I even kept the moment when I couldn't think of a rhyme blush

I wanna know why

every little thing every little smile every little action that makes it all worthwhile
every little everything makes it seem so right
as the lights hurt my eyes in time with my heart
as I'm driving thro the night and driving thro the day
driving thro the whole of my life you made me
think all the things that I didn't want to speak
and to say all the things that I oughtn't've said

time has a passion of making the eyes the heavy wheels
as you breath nice and slowly in time with your feelings,
your passions, your desires all those dreams all that I digress
I should really be talkin' about the love I have for you
the dancing round, fooling round the shouting down fools argue
do I hate all the things that you do to me and I do back to you

I wanna know why
why you make me smile?

speed has a habit of colouring the soul with images of greatness a god behind the wheel you feel
you don't feel no pain, no gain its plain as the images of your beautiful face slowly pans in my mind, whose mine? that's mine that's not mine
but all the time its reminding you
its telling you the answer to that question in your mind now

SOLO

I wanna know why
why you make me smile

every little thing, every little smile, every little action that makes it all worthwhile
every little everything makes it seem so right
as the lights hurt my eyes in time with my heart
as I'm driving thro the night and driving thro the day
driving thro the whole of my life you made me
think all the things that I didn't want to speak
to say all the things that I oughn't've said

ps flippin' heck. I can see the road outside my house from where I am sitting now and as I was checking the post before I submitted I saw a car smash into the back of a bus, so I pressed submit and ran to see if I could help. No real damage except the car driver dropped his phone on impact!
That was one expensive phone call! Idiot.

Hi there, Alyn my old chum.

What can I say?

I can say it's different. I can say it's interesting. I can say it's clever.

It's all those things, but that's not enough. This is pioneering stuff my friend. You're pushing at the boundaries of what I, for one, expect to hear and doing it in a way which is strangely compelling and forces me to keep hitting the play button every time it reaches the end.

Just going back for one more...

ROG.

Wow! Now that was cool. It was so beatlesque I couldn't help thinking John Lennon. Then George shows up for the solo. That is one original tune. Two thumbs up. Tom

Alyn,

+1 to what's already been said.

Sometimes writing out your feelings about what you're really going through comes out in a very cool way. This has nice polish while keeping that raw and real emotion.

Cool tune....I like this.

I love my NT2A.

They say driving while on a phone (texting or in many cases just talking) is worse than being drunk behind the wheel. Good that no one was hurt.

Scott C, Thanks for the kind comments

Bob, thanks, BIAB sure helps with the arrangements.

ROG, What can I say, also? I feel humbled by your praise *surreptitiously slips a fiver your way* smile

Tom, beatlesque is praise indeed. Thank you so much.

Josie (Sundance) I write my songs to escape from life but my life is in my songs and yes it sure helps to put the feelings into words

Joanna (Josie C) I have always said that a poem is a song set to music, thank you for confirming that!

Herb (Guitarhacker) Thanks for the comment. I have a matched pair of NT2's, special offer many years ago, and they sure live up to their advertisement.
yeh people thinking phoning and driving is OK but go beserk if they think the driver is drunk!

Collectively You produce music that make me sit up and listen so receiving your praise makes it all so much more worthwhile as I listen and learn from you all laugh

Alyn,

I left a comment on your SoundCloud post. This is big, clever, and just, well, terrific.

Like yourself, I'm willing to go outside my little garden plot and check out what the other guy is doing. You got a plum here. More.

Dean,

Thanks, I don't know how to reply smile

But I add you to the "conclusion" in my first response as you too are one of the people I listen to and learn from, never too old to learn, even if the styles are different.

I look forward to your next opus!!

Alyn,

MAN! that's good! I loved it!

So original. So comfortably presented. Solid lyric. Solid delivery.

Awesome work on the (Beatlesque) chorus. Stellar solo.

I had to listen several times.

Super.

That was... unexpected in a good way.

I love the way the chorus bursts into the song. I thought the choir worked well, too.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Alyn,

I'm stunned. This is incredibly good and incredibly engaging.

When you came to those two lines "I wanna know why, why you make me smile", I couldn't believe how powerful they sounded.

Also, there are some outstanding phrases in your words. The one that really resonated with me was "as you breathe nice and slowly in time with your feelings".

I'd love to know how to write songs like this.

You've certainly raised the forum's high jump bar with this one.

All the best,
Noel

Guenter,
I missed thanking you in my first response, dunno how that happened, thanks for commenting.

Floyd,
Thanks for the comments, I did wonder if you were talking about my song tho', I really appreciate the praise, thanks so much.

dcuny,
Thanks I like the pause in your opening comment "That was... unexpected in a good way".
Glad you enjoyed it

Dani
Thanks so much for the kind comments.Take care my friend.

Noel,
I never got ticks for ANYTHING when I was at school!Usually was "see me after class Master James" mad
Thanks for them laugh .
I too wish I knew where mu words came from but they just float out and sometimes even make me go "Where did that come from??" I still have pen and paper to hand, cept when driving!! in case something appears. That works better than recording on my phone.I have reams of disjointed phrases in boxes.

Wow! I was sitting here distracted, doing one thing and thinking of another, and then I hear the first couple of bars of your song in the back of my mind, and I'm like "ho hum" or something to that effect.

And then POW! Your song grabbed me by the ears and my brain said "there's something special going on here you better pay attention!"

This song is inspired, and compelling, and mighty as dani48 said! I love the cadence of your spoken lyric here, and the words themselves - so fluid; and the contrast of the staccato verse to the legato chorus - masterful!

As far as lyrics go I much prefer the flow of consciousness, as you have here, to the forced awkwardness of poor lines for the sake of rhyme.

I have enjoyed it very much.
