For some reason, a while back, the drum grid stopped playing audio unless I saved and filled tracks with the programmed grid.
I've tried different soundfonts and different VSTs on a windows 7 PC with a X-FI platinum. I can't figure this out.
Any ideas on why the grid preview audio has disappeared? It is pretty difficult to program without it. I miss being able to press play in the grid and actually hear the parts I was programming before having to save it and paste it to a track.

Check your Settings for choice of "default" MIDI synth, likely should be set to one of the "simple" synths such as the Microsoft Synth in order to hear the Grid play.
Once the part is built, you can RightClick under the Trackname to change to a better sounding synth.

I have tried that as well, still no audio when using the grid. I've been going through this for a while, even after a complete reinstall of the software and no luck.
I figure I can't be the only person who's ever had this issue, but I might be the only person to never have it fixed. lol

Try going into the general Preferences dialog and setting the Initial Track Type to MIDI instead of audio and then re-booting. See if that helps.

Make sure Track 48 was set to a MIDI track, and that the expression setting is at the highest value.
