A Clockwork Dream I made this song after watching the movie Begin Again, very nice feel good story about songwriting and accidentally finding a right visionary to turn the simple melodies to full arrangement. For many of us, this visionary is Band-in-a-box, such an easy tool to try your simple idea with hundreds of styles, getting new ideas and finally ending to something completely different. Just like this song which started as an acoustic guitar driven song but there are no guitars in the final version, just didn't fit to the stripped-down arrangement. I think that the ticking clock sound I found in Kinetic Metal plugin works as a nice replacement. I have tried to use the word clockwork as a metaphor for both personal and professional relationship. All instruments played by Band-in-a-box, vocals by Vocaloid CyberDiva, mixed in Adobe Audition. In this dream we form a clean perpetual gear machine and together spin the hands of fate. I have a dream of a pendulum telling that someone's attracted to me making me feel special by the power of gravity. Wish that from the outer spaces someone calls and finds my traces wakes my inspiration guides my driving force to limelight. In this dream we form a clean perpetual star machine and together spin the hands of fame. A ray of hope filled with magic shining through the dusty attic the figure of a longcase clock recalls the faded chime. Dreaming to feel alive once to feel the movement unwind the time. Wish that... A very interesting composition, well thought out and arranged. I'm listening on tablet with a small mono speaker and could not hear many of the instruments you listed. I can hear the vocalist, drums and piano.
Have not heard of the movie thar inspired your song but it sounds interesting. I'll be looking for it.

The synthetic vocal takes a little bit of getting used to, but in the end with all of the post-production that is used by human singers these days, not as odd as it might have been  I really like the arrangement and choice of instruments. It fits well with the quirky lyrics and melodic turns. You are good at arranging and mixing, and I will look forward to hearing more of your tracks! -MWG

Hi Janne,
I also thought this was very well put together. I especially enjoyed the percussion effects you added. At first I didn't know what I thought of the synthetic vocal, but after hearing it a couple of times, I am not sure a "real" vocal would work as well in this song. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Jeff for your nice comment, I agree that the song might lose something with a real vocalist. I considered hiring a real vocalist, but I thought she should be a really exceptional singer to be worth the investment for this song.
