Having recently read how much One Direction each made, apparently 27 million UK pounds in 5 years, I thought I would resurrect this song with RTs etc 'cos I now, again grin , wanna be in a boyband! But I can't decide which version. Do I want a personal trainer or <cough> a dealer???
I wrote this last century hence the reference to Blink 182.

Rashelle, from 2 sexy for me was staying and so we had MTV or VH1 permanently on the TV and the difference in the videos gave me the idea.
I recorded the vocal in one take having practised breathing at the right time for the fast bits. "fags" is the British slang for cigarettes by the way smile

I wanna be in a boyband

I wanna get to Number One
I wanna look like its all bin fun
I want all the world to know what I eat
to answer those questions on MTV
I want to sing in the pouring rain
'n be in love and look like I'm in pain
Look sincere and hold out my hand
I want to be in a boy band

I wanna be tattooed from head to toe
holes in places where the holes don't go
I wanna strut around fully dressed in mud
cut myself and see my blood
I wanna be in a boy band
girls play my records thro out the land
wanna run round in the nude
Just like Blink 182

Gonna learn the craft of life
forget being normal this is the after life
Wot I earn in 50 years they earn in one
that to me 'sgotta be the one

Jump up and down pullin faces
Driving fast cars in stupid places
Wanna get a sponsorship from Paul Reed Smith
Give up fags and smoke only spliffs
Don't sell out gonna write my songs
Not a pop idol but it won't take long
Fat greysuits take care of it all
jump in the air 'n grab my balls
I wanna be in a boy band
girls play my records thro the land
I wanna run round in the nude
Just like Blink 182
wanna be tattooed from head to toe
holes in places where holes don't go
I wanna strut around fully dressed in mud`
cut myself and see my blood
I wanna be in a boy band
girls play my records thro out the land
Ah wanna run round in the nude
Just like Blink 182

Wanna get to Number One
Ah wanna look its all bin fun
Want to wun around in the nude
Just like Blink 182

Hi Alyn,

what fun! A really entertaining song.
Must have been difficult to sing the fast bits.
Unbelievable you did it in one take.
Very enjoyable listen.

Thank you.
I wanted the 2 halves to illustrate the 2 different genres and also possibly playable live. As each part was done in separate BIAB files, but with 2 instances of BIAB running it took a while to match them.
I am glad you liked the fast bits, as they were my favourite part.

Thanks for listening

Yes it was difficult singing the fast bits as I kept tripping on words and running out of breath grin
So I learnt to take a sharp intake of breath at the end of the fast lines and put a red dot on the original lyric sheet to remind me blush

I cursed the song many times as it sounded stilted and awful singing the lines until I messed up, then cutting and pasting the good bits and I began to hate the song
Then as a last resort I gaffa taped a shortish stick to the mic stand so I'd stay in roughly the same position all the way through; took a deep breath and BINGO.
I sung it to the midi version and enjoyed "Real-Trackin'" the song afterwards grin .

I am so glad you enjoyed it!!

There you go. This would be a great song for Disney World, where dreams do come true. Sometimes, even for Boy Bands.

I'd buy a ticket to your concert...

Enjoyed.

Hilarious fun! smile

But I can't resist noting these cunning rhymes:

Gonna learn the craft of life
forget being normal this is the after life
Wot I earn in 50 years they earn in one
that to me's gotta be the one

Fun, clever and it must have taken a
heckuva lot of work to put all that
together. GREAT write and floyd
has already mentioned our favorite
line. Cool guitar and vocals indeed.
This is a clinic in what can be done
with BiaB -- very inventive.

Superb!!!

cheers Greg,
I have never understood the need for body art especially to the extent in those speed-metal bands or woteva genre that is.

thanks, I am glad to be unique grin
