Here's an instrumental tune. I've been kicking this one around for a while and decided to finish it today and get it out of my hair.

Something that started out going one way and then changed course in a major way.

Tracks:

Bass 1536 elect pop believe
Real Drums praise and worship slow 16ths
Guitar 1537 sparkly chords 1
Guitar 1538 sparkly chords 2
Synth pad 1543 pop believe even 16

All leads are live.... me kinda playing around and having some fun.

The twins that come in at 1:50 are a kind of homage to one of the bands I really appreciated.... Wishbone Ash.

Hope you enjoy

BUTTERFLY

The live guitar is Tele through my Pod2 cranked up and singing sweetly.

Herb, This is very very good! Your best playing to date. The guitar tone is perfect and it is played very soulfully. Good mix and I will have to check out those sparkly chords tracks. Excellent twinning. This is how it's done! Nice job. Tom

Back when I hung at one of the fender forums, they had a section where folks posted backing tracks and then a bunch of us would download it, add leads and then discuss. It was amazing how many different things could come from the same backing track. This actually started me on the road to songwriting -- writing lyrics and (gasp!) start to try singing.

This reminds me of one of those mighty fine backing tracks. Playing is subdued but expressive, well done -- and thanks for the short reminiscing time.

Great music Herb!
The 1537 and 1538 are really good (must try them out too)and your guitar playing is wonderful.
A very good job!

Good one Herb. I especially liked when you stated the theme at about 0:30. Great tone. Pod?

Funny you should mention Wishbone Ash. I was working for MCA Records back in '70 when their first LP came out. I had a demo/radio only copy. They were great.

I'm also hearing a bit of 10cc in those dual guitars. Well done.

Regards,

Bob

Hi Herb.

Some really good guitar work there and a great sound.

Lots of atmosphere and a professional mix.

Nice touch at the end.

ROG.

yeah... 10 guitarists will play 12 different things to the same track. Glad you like it

THose tracks are tweaked with high pass EQ and a bump on the high end to make them sparkle a bit
Thanks

Wishbone Ash.. those guys are great. Loved them. They still are around. Blowin Free, Throw down the sword, The King will come, Persephone.... man, that list goes on and on....If you listen carefully to my lead work on songs you will hear their influence all over it. I saw them in a little theater in Camden NJ before that place became a war zone.... early 70's. More like a night club than a concert.... but it was a concert. Only a few bucks to get in the door. When I told my buddy Mike, "lets go see Wishbone Ash tonight" he was like "Wishbone what?" but came away a believer....

Yeah... all the guitar was with the POD2. I don't write down my settings, so there's 2 different basic tones in the tune.

Do you remember the name of the theater in Camden? I was born there and went to school there. Small world.

I do not. It was a movie theater on the main street coming in to Camden.... it was converted to a club. I only went there once. I was trying to remember the street but that was too long ago.

I really enjoyed that one Herb. Can see the butterfly sparkling and flitting in the sun.
Reminds me a touch of Peter Greens 'Albatross' (one of my favourite tunes). Cheers.

Great tune, superb playing, gorgeous mood, and a top flight arrangement, choice of instruments and production.

This one definitely sparkles.

I would have run out of superlatives if the song would have had vocals.... It's that good.

Comment section has me heading to YouTube to search for Wishbone Ash.
