The Battle Of The Sexes
The Irish bagpipe sound is played on guitar using software called MIDI Guitar 2,
pretty good at tracking and does not require any modification to the guitar. Good
for those like me lacking keyboard skills.

Anyway -
Lyrics & Vocals Leon
Me Guitar synth and backing vocals.

In the battle of the sexes I’d have to say you won
I could never go the distance with a girl as strong as you
I was outflanked from the outset out thought and over run
In the battle of the sexes girl I’ve thrown away my gun

In the battle of the sexes there was really no contest
I never had a chance against a girl as smart as you
There was never any question always knew I’d fail the test
In the battle of the sexes I was up against the best

I had no answer to the blitzkrieg you launched against my heart
You penetrated my defences and blew my world apart
I thought you’d liberate me from the bonds of tyranny
But you came to subjugate me not to set me free

In the battle of the sexes you took me by surprise
You conquered my resistance got me right between the eyes
I was powerless to stop you when you stormed my citadel
In the battle of the sexes guess I didn’t do so well

In the battle of the sexes I’d have to say you won
I could never go the distance with a girl as strong as you
I was outflanked from the outset out thought and over run
In the battle of the sexes girl I’ve thrown away my gun

I had no answer to the blitzkrieg you launched against my heart
You penetrated my defences and blew my world apart
I thought you’d liberate me from the bonds of tyranny
But you came to subjugate me not to set me free

Hi Peter,

This is a great sounding production. I've never heard guitar playing bagpipes before! Very different indeed. I enjoyed the listen. There are some great rhymes and some very fresh-sounding words used in the lyrics. This really adds to the appeal factor! Leon and you have pulled out all the stops with this one.

Regards,
Noel

Really well done!! Bagpipe and military drum core sounds work very well with the lyrics. The melody is very catchy and singable-kind of Dylanesque. Vocals are excellent. Great job on everything! Take care. Greg

Peter/Leon...

This one would have been a good one to have a lyric listed...a lot of interesting stuff happening in there. I know I've never used the word "subjugate" in a song before...

Interesting choice of instruments, too. Bagpipes! Did you do the military drum on the synth?

A fun listen.

Thanks for the comments I've put the lyrics up.
The drum is from band in a box - an old MIDI one used in the folk song collection (the files are dated from 2000 so I assume it was an add on that year)I think it was one of the Scottish tunes.

Enjoyed the song and the originality of both the song and the lyrics. Everything worked together well.

Peter and Leon,

This is a very cool song! Very nice lyrics too.
That guitar plug-in sounds promising. Will check it out sometime.

Great effort Peter.
With the March style drums, your definitely provided a great Traditional style.

The harmonies have been delivered perfectly.

And wrapped around an excellent story-line for sure. And the bagpipes, well, how good is that.

I love metaphors when they are used well and
the military ones in this tune are very, very cool.
There are really great lines in every verse.

And the vocal, the arrangement and the mix
are all top notch. The pipes are amazing.

I'm sure a lot of work and creativity went
into this production...and it worked well!
