Well, I finally got around to checking out the Band In A Box upgrade I purchased last year, and "Oh Magpie" is the result.

This song uses a style called _BCJOE85.STY. BmChkJoe 85 2-Beat, which is made up of the following RealTracks:

RD: Nashville2Beat^07-a,b:Brushes :Brian Fullen
RT1415: Bass, Electric, PopSw16RootFive Sw16 075 , Mark Hill
RT2515: Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking BoomChickSlowHighJoe Sw16 085 , Joe Robinson
RT2516: Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking BoomChickSlowJoe Sw16 085 , Joe Robinson

The vocals are done by myslef and the harmonies were done with the on-board harmonizer in my Yamaha PSR-3000 keyboard. The saxophone is me, too. I'm not really sure the horn works with this style of a tune, but at least I had quite a bit of fun playing it. wink

Oh Magpie

Oh Magpie

Magpie magpie sittin' in a tree
Magpie magpie squawkin' at me
Magpie I know you've got things to say
But it's five in the morning why don't you go away
Oh magpie

In winter snow or summer rain
You'll always find a magpie bein' a pain
It's what he does
And it's what he is
That crazy ol' magpie
He thinks the world is his

Magpie magpie actin' so smart
Magpie magpie got a lot of heart
Magpie such a pretty bird are you
And you make sure everybody knows about it too
Oh magpie

In winter snow or summer rain
You'll always find a magpie bein' a pain
It's what he does
And it's what he is
That crazy ol' magpie
He thinks the world is his

Magpie magpie what you gonna do
Magpie magpie I'm talkin' to you
Magpie such a busy guy today
But you start so early why won't you go away
Oh magpie

In winter snow or summer rain
You'll always find a magpie bein' a pain
It's what he does
And it's what he is
That crafty ol' magpie
He knows the world is his

Thanks for listening,
Dan

Dan, great fun song. Good lyrics, and toe-tapping beat throughout.

Cool.

I appreciate your kind words, Mario.
I wasn't really sure if the sax fit in with the acoustic guitars, but I decided to play it anyway. It's what I does and what I is, I suppose.
I'm just glad that the Magpie doesn't mind sharing. wink

Yes I like this one ! and not only because I was a bird watcher not so long before (the magpie is not where I am living now but of course it is in France).
By the way, excellent sax !

Dan,

This was a terrific listen... here are some of the thoughts that popped into my head as I journeyed along with your singing: "love the beat", "very clever writing", "fantastic melody", "his sax playing is top notch", "brilliant write".

Really enjoyable music.

All the best,
Noel
