A Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Kind of Moment

BobH was over last sunday and said he had an idea for a song called A Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Kind of Moment. You know lets sing about some of the bad things that happen to people. So we put our heads together and came up with some lyrics and picked a Band-in-a-Box style. That week I polished the tracks and this Sunday Bob sang the lead and I sang the harmony. This was a real quick and dirty ditty.

BiaB style = Good n Country - bluegrass styl
Kept the drums
Changed the piano to a mandolin
Deleted the banjo and replaced it with our own MIDI banjo
Deleted the guitar - BobH played an acoustic straight into the computer
Realtrack - 595 fiddle, rhythm bluegrass, Doc ev 100 (shuffles)

Let us know what you think.

Whiskey tango Foxtrot Kind of Moment

V1-
I was driving on the highway
In the pouring rain
I knew I had to take action fast
When this fool came in my lane

I swerved and almost hit a tree
And as I spun around
I saw the jerk through the window
he was texting on the phone

C1
Cause it's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
I just can't believe what I saw
It's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
It's the one that makes you say don't that take all

V2
I was sitting in the drive through lane
At a fast food restaurant
I placed my order and when I got home
My order wasn't what I got

I order a burger and a side of fries
They must have thought I was overweight
Cause when I got home and opened the bag
There was a salad in its place

C2
it's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
Those idiots did not give me a deal
It's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
It's not gonna to be a happy meal

V3
Now I went to the doctors
To get a physical
I filled out all the triplicate forms
It was a living hell

When I went to play the bill
He said I would be fine
I handed him my insurance card
That's when I was denied

C3
it's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
Bad insurance that's just my luck
a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
That makes me wanta to yell what the
Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
It's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
It's a Whiskey tango Foxtrot kind of moment
Rant on

I got banned from Weight Watchers for dropping a bag of M&Ms on the floor.

That was superbly cool! And a very different sound and it all worked for us.

Hope to hear more vocals from y'all!

Fun.

Mario & Bob

What a great song.

And yes, we've all Whisky Tango Foxtrot Kind of Moments.

This was a real fun listen. Choice of instruments really worked well, and MIDI Banjo slotted in so well.

A good one for sure.

laugh smile cool!!! As I listened to "A Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Moment," I laughed so loud, and so hard, that I nearly choked on my hot dog.

I was driving on the highway
In the pouring rain
I knew I had to take action fast
When this fool came in my lane

Who among us that drives can't relate to that? But because of the clever rhyme and the good-time sounding music you set it to, it came off funny as all hell.

I order a burger and a side of fries
They must have thought I was overweight
Cause when I got home and opened the bag
There was a salad in its place

That's simply hilarious...

When I went to play the bill
He said I would be fine
I handed him my insurance card
That's when I was denied

...and so is the above, precisely because, though it's nowhere near being funny in "real" life, the fact that we survive "the bad things that happen to people" gives us the right to laugh our butts off at the dreaded fate we narrowly avoided. It's the kind of song that folks would gladly sing-along with in a nice, cozy, crowded bar as they hoist beers to each other on a rainy Friday night after a hard's days work.

Fellas, ("Mario D" and "BillH"), in it's own original and inspired way, I think this is one of the most knowingly humorous and musically entertaining songs I've heard since Bob Dylan's "115 Dreams". Yes, I said it! Send it to the "Smothers Brothers." They could stage a swift "comeback" with it.

I know a whole lotta folks who could use a good, hearty laugh while singing along with "A Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Moment." Is it available to download, or would I simply direct listeners to SoundCloud?

Scott C thanx for listening. I appreciate your comments. I think we all have had those WTF moments.

PeterF, yep we had a ball doing this one. In fact we had to eliminate some of the verses otherwise the song would have been way too long!

Herb, Bob, Floyd, J&B, VideoTrack, Joe and Marty. thanx for listening and those nice comments. Greatly appreciated.

Kenny, yea I think we all can relate, especially about the guy coming into your lane!

Loren, thanx for the super kind review. If you want you can PM me with your email and I will send you an MP3 of this song.

More thoughts..... that's a great country song title.

I could hear a country vixen singing a song with that title, in a sassy kind of country song.

It's a good thing titles aren't covered by copyright.... I might have to steal that one in the future. Maybe.....I will have to mention you in that song.

Mario and Bob,

I enjoyed it! It was almost like you could have been singing about scenarios I've been in. That was very clever to use the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet!

Enjoyed it.
