This is what I refer to as my transcontinental song. I started it in Kentucky and continued working on it in my head as I traveled across Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. I continued fleshing it out as we came back across the northern states on our way home. I hope you like it.

Hi Gary,

We liked this a lot! The minimal backing tracks work for this one, in our opinion.

Although that's a pretty cool sax lead, we think something a little more folk-ish might be more supportive of the song's general character - perhaps a fiddle, mandolin or (everyone gasps!) an accordion. Nonetheless, we enjoyed your song. Best to you,

Alan & Di

Loved this song Gary. Reminded me of a Conway Twitty tune. Well done

Gary,
There`s a nice old country feel to this both lyrically and musically. I liked your vocal too.
I agree with Alan & Di that the sax break was a surprising choice- maybe it relates to the cross country progress of the song?
I enjoyed my listen.

Thank you all, I appreciate all the kind comments. It may surprise you but I tend to agree with you. I posted this late last night, and after listening to it this morning, I have decided to take this one back to the studio. I will leave this version up on the forum, for those that choose to listen, but in the end I am not satisfied with it. The lyrics tell one story but the music tells it differently. There was also some harshness in the vocal that I want to address. Sometimes, when you spend Quite a long time with a tune, you lose your objectivity, and you do things just to get it done. I think I should have left it alone for a few days and then came back to it. Thanks again.

Hello, Gary

I love this song.
And I also love the chord progression started with II-V (Dm7-G7) instead of Tonic (Cmajor) very much.
There's a nice old country feel.
Your vocal is very pleasant.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hello Shigeki,
Thanks so much for your comment. I realized immediately that you were a musical scholar, while I can play the chords that you described, in a lot of cases I couldn't begin to describe them in the way that you do. I learned to play in the early sixties, by listening to a cheap transistor radio. I had to learn to tune my guitar to the radio sound in order to play along, because in those days everything was recorded on tape, which made the radio playback about a half semitone out of 440. The new song you just posted: {Dreams of wine and cherry blossoms} reminds me a lot of those times. Mancini and Bacharach were a staple on the radio in those days. Your production values are outstanding. I tip my hat to you.

Very pretty song!! Great feel, great melody. I think the effect on the vocal is too strong-the character is right but it's overdone. This is such an infectious melody-like it more each time I hear it. Arrangement works beautifully too. Great work! Take care. Greg
