Karly's Christmas by The Keller Trio The inspiration was I wanted to surprise my wife with her own Christmas song on Christmas...having never written a song, not owning a single instrument, and not being able to read music. So I enlisted my Dad and my brother who live multiple states away; we did this all through email. I recorded a melody on my phone, my brother put some chords together, and my Dad put it into Band in the Box and, due to my lack of recording equipment and the central casting of my Dad's voice as "A guy who definitely has a Christmas album", recorded the final voice track. We had so much fun playing with different styles for a song that doesn't exist yet. And I thought we'd be tinkering with the instrumental solo for weeks, we really just had a hard time picking our favorite instrument to use. The lyrics center around wanting to leave the city for Christmas, there's inside jokes but I'm hoping they come across as nice sentiments as well. On Christmas day I had a "full backing band" and a version that we could dance to in our sweatpants at 4 in the afternoon. Notes from the producer/my Dad: All accompaniment is done exclusively by Band-in-a-Box using “Real” styles and BIAB solo generation. Vocal recording, processing and final mixing with the single stereo accompaniment track from BIAB is done in CakeWalk Sonar. No effects were added to the accompaniment – it is Vanilla BIAB. The style is BIAB style _JFREDMD Lyrics: I know the city's getting old We left family back at home Christmas can get quite cold, dear But I'll be right here So darling turn the lights down low Pour the wine and let it snow We'll forgo the mistletoe, dear We'll stay right here I'll hang the lights Times Square might be nice Good point, never mind We'll order dinner online You'll smell the wreath Lectric' blankets when we sleep Come cuddle next to me Every night is Christmas Eve (Instrument Solo) So darling turn the lights down low Pour the wine and let it snow We'll forgo the mistletoe, dear We'll stay right here

Thanks for giving me a bit of Christmas in April! Really excellent production, relying on very basic and simple backing, letting your vocal and lyrics shine..you created a wonderful “just the two of us in front of the fire” warm holiday feel, which is perfect for your lyric messaging.
A suggestion..why not extend the track by a couple of extra bars and let your band finish it up with a nice little instrumental wrap-up?

I enjoyed the warm feelings evoked by your family song. Very strong vocals and lyrics that fit the tradition ( would be nice to see them in your post).

Your vocal is very warm and comfortable.
This song is closed on the standard American Christmas songs.
As Tanomusic said, I also felt that it wanted the classy orchestration.
