So it's interesting that we haven't heard a lot about this on the PGMusic site (I think I saw one forum thread referencing it).

Notation Composer now let's you create (MIDI only) accompaniment using a BIAB plugin within the program. That MIDI can then be exported out to load into a DAW.

Notation Composer gives you a 60 day 15-style demo period, but if you buy it, you receive 150 styles. It will also allow you to use other MIDI styles provided by PGMusic and other 3rd party BIAB MIDI styles.

It seems that something like this could be a precursor to a BIAB VSTi that folks keep asking about. Anyway, below is the email I received, since I am a licensed Notation Composer user. You have to have purchased Notation Composer in order to use this $69 add-in. You can see there are some video demo links below on how it works.

Quote:
Dear User of Notation Composer,

You have recently downloaded Notation Composer 3.1. Version 3.1 contains many new features. For details please see https://www.notation.com/WhatsNewDetails.php

In this newsletter we would like to give you some more insights about the Band-in-a-Box feature which can be purchased as a plugin and fully integrates into Composer.
(Please see the feature description and background information at https://www.notation.com/BiabPluginNotationSoftware.php )

IMPORTANT for you to know:

Each Notation Composer installation contains a Band-in-a-Box trial plugin with 25 styles. No separate downloading of a trial is required for testing the feature. You can just use the integrated Band-in-a-Box trial plugin for 60 days for free. After these 60 days the Band-in-a-Box trial plugin expires and you will be notified accordingly.

We have prepared 3 videos about the Band-in-a-Box plugin:

(1) A product video which gives you an overview. Please see
https://www.notation.com/videos/BIABvideos/NotationSoftware-BIABpluginProduct.mp4

(2) A quick start guide so you can instantly use the Band-in-a-Box feature
https://www.notation.com/videos/BIABvideos/QuickStartGuide-BandInABox.mp4

(3) A very detailed tutorial video to walk you through using the Band-in-a-Box tools
https://www.notation.com/videos/BIABvideos/BIAB-Tutorial.mp4

You can purchase the full Band-in-a-Box plugin with 150 styles any time from https://www.notation.com/BuyNotationBiabPlugin.php
If you are not interested simply uninstall the Band-in-a-Box trial plugin and Composer will not show the Band-in-a-Box tab anymore.

Some people have already tested the Band-in-a-Box feature and have posted feedback in our user forum. Please see at
https://www.notation.com/vb-forum/ and search for "Band-in-a-Box".

We have set the trial time of the Band-in-a-Box plugin for 60 days starting from the installation of Composer 3.1. Don't miss this opportunity to investigate whether this feature is valuable for your music-making needs.

Best regards,

Your Notation Software Team

John

Callie with PG Music posted +++ THIS +++ message October 24, 2018 at 3:20 PM.

Follow the link and you'll see PG Music is offering Finale V 26 for Windows as a download only option by itself or bundled with the other Band-in-a-Box for Windows packages.

Also, notice the new masthead in the screenshot below of the Finale features page. Looks like PG Music might be planning to overhaul the website pages.

I think the Finale bundle is just buying that and BIAB together; they aren’t integrated in any special way.

Notation Composer, though, offers a BIAB plugin for $70 on top of the regular $99 price. However, what happens if you already have BIAB? I’m reluctant to try the demo for fear of overwriting my full version.

If it works, this has the potential of offering many more MIDI tracks instead of just the Melody and Soloist tracks. Could be just the ticket.

I put a post in the BIAB Windows forum. I think it’s sufficiently BIAB to discuss over there.
