The Roses of Tepeyac

I started this track by working with a simple C/Bb rhythmic pattern, built it up by layers from there. I decided that I needed a slower, introspective middle portion, then returning to the rhythmic pattern to end it. Interested in comments and feedback! Thanks in advance for listening!
-------------------------------------------

The Roses of Tepeyac

Come hear the music I heard at Tepeyac!
Come see the roses I saw at Tepeyac!
Come see the beautiful lady of Tepeyac!

(Slow section)
She asked for a shrine be built to her there;
And she was real, and yet something divine, no illusion, I swear;
You've demanded a sign, is it faith that you lack?
So you command a return: "Bring me back Tepeyac!"

See what I've brought you from Tepeyac!
See all the beauty I found at Tepeyac!

The lady sends her good wishes;
There she stands in the night sky;
Now she'll always be near us,
For us, with us for all time!

Come to the sun, come to the one,
Come to the Roses!

--------------------------------------------------
I didn't use a BIAB style, just built it up from scratch.
Except for some bossa drums and congas, everything else is Midi, mostly thru SampleTank3.
Couple of 'jungle' sound effects in the slow portion.

"Tano Music"...

Your musical imagination is expanding the boundaries of what we listen to in this forum.

"The Roses of Tepeyac" delighted me because of its contrasting tempos, and the excitement that comes with that. And then, your lyrics, cryptic as they sounded to this uninitiated listener, nonetheless hinted at something glorious and wonderful happening.

The feel of the song is celebratory, but with 'two faces', one sparkling like fireworks, the other cool, and seductive. When you blend everything together, it transforms itself into something like a rare, once-in-a-lifetime experience that one might miss if he/she doesn't look over here, or there, at just the precise time.

It's vivid, alive, and blossoms in the ear, mind and heart like the blazing sun filtered through the lovely petals of the "roses of Tepeyac"!

Bien hecho, "Tano Music" cool !!!

Tano,
Have you listened to mid period The Residents?
You've an amusing, interesting skewed perspective that informs your work.
VERRRY interesting stuff.

Joe, RnAM, Loren, Ray...thanks for checking this out!

My first go-round with this song, I had a 'middle' portion that was fast, like the end...but I could never sing the words properly at the speed, so I set this one aside for a long time. Recently, I decided on 'surgery', and added the slow middle section, and it's worked out much better..but I almost gave up on it as a "nice idea, but not do-able".

Ray: I will check out The Residents, I don't know them. Musically, I was following the influence of the Brazilian percussionist/musician Airto (eye-ear-toe).

The lyric story attempts to relate to the 'tilma of Juan Diego'..you can look it up if interested.

Thanks again, all!

Nice work Tano smile Really, really inventive and creative. That switch up around the 1 minute mark threw me for a loop. Your description mentioned it would slow down, but it still totally caught me off guard.

Love the tune - it is simultaneously dizzying to listen to, while being catchy enough to keep one’s attention the whole way through. Thanks for sharing!

An interesting unusual composition... I imagine it took you some time to compose, arrange, & record all the sections & parts... I also confess my ignorance... I had to Google "Tepeyac".

Unusual, innovative, drawing... many different words can be used about this piece of music, Tano -it was some kind of an adventure to listen to it...impossible not to listen to the end... and then start over... because I wondered "what was that?".

This is art! Art in the form of music should provoke you, ask questions, provide insecurity and safety in the same time, deliver passion, beauty and invoke curiosity in the mind of the listener.

Tano, you deliver!

Very unpredictable and surprising lyrical themes and musical twists.
Cool tune!

P.S. Found your "Island" from a few back, thought it was awesome.
