Hi all, Here's a french gypsy jazz waltz. https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/apparencePatrick Fournerat has written the lyrics and he sings. He also whistles. The lyrics aren't easy to translate. It's a song about the appearance. In french, there's an expression " L'habit ne fait pas le moine ". The translation could be " Clothes don't make the person " RD GypsyJazzWaltz RT 547 Acoustic Bass RT 3083 Accordion RT 1461 Acoustic Guitar RT 1464 Solo Acoustic Guitar RT 1107 Fiddle Il marchait dans la rue d’une façon bizarre D’une allure hésitante, une dégaine de zonard Tout petit, rabougri, vraiment mal fagoté Les passants traversaient préférant l’éviter Moi de loin j’me disais : il doit sentir mauvais Ça n’fait rien, j’vais faire comme si de rien n’était On s’est regardé droit dans les yeux Une chose était sûre, il n’avait pas l’air heureux Mais comment font les gens qu’ont pas été gâtés Quand on voit les regards qu’on peut leur balancer Je pensais à ma tronche qu’était pas bien rasée Et à mon pantalon qui n’est jamais repassé. Que va dire la mégère que je voyais arriver Avec ses bagues en or et son faux décolleté En observant de loin son regard consterné J’ai senti le mépris, Hermès et Chanel réunis Y’a des fois j’vois des punks, j’me dis : oh qu’ils sont laids C’est pas pire que les bronzés ultraviolets Ceux qui sont maquillés comme des fausses factures Quand tu grattes le vernis, la chute devient plus dure Dans la dégaine des gens, des fois ça fait marrer Y’en a d’autres, oh là la, ça fait plutôt pitié Moi j’en ai rien à foutre de comment qu’t’es sapé Du moment que tu as quelque chose à m’raconter

In English there's the phrase that "the clothes make the man" as well as "the emperor's new clothes".
Aesop taught us that for every "he who hesitates loses" there's a "look before you leap".
The lyric sounds great anyway.
It's a lovely tavern waltz.
The vocal is well sung but there's, in headphones, a sort of audio halo around them.
Terrific mix and arrangement.
Melody to die for too.

I tried running some of the lyrics through Google Translate, which is pretty poor at translating anything more complicated than "See Spot run", but surprisingly I was able to extract a few very colorful phrases from it, such as the "UV tan" and people being made up like "fake invoices", which gave me a hint of what I thought I heard in the vocal delivery and style which was rather edgy and biting, but delivered with a certain flair which I have no word for. I listened to it again, and I had to smile that time.
Really liked this - very entertaining and rewarding listen.

Nice work on this - it all flows really well, and the vocals pull it all together for me. Very good use of the gypsy waltz style too. Thanks for sharing
