This is a complete rewrite of a tune that I posted a while ago (Lazy jazz without a singing robot). Heidi Larsen, who I met at FAWM last February, reached out to me and said that she would like to make another melody and do the singing. So we made a new arrangement and here is the resulting track:

https://soundcloud.com/user-656274325/homecoming-feat-heidi-larsen

Lyrics:

Homecoming

It´s a long lonely waiting time
without one single love in life
it´s a hungry burning longing
a heart robbed but bold
a soul left and cold
just waiting for return of gold

love coming home
life reborn
lights turned on

welcome home
welcome home

Home is where my heart is
home is with their love
slowing down
my restless heartbeat
placing both feet on the ground
I hear a sound
footsteps on the stairs
hello there
hello there
welcome home

RTs used:
RT725: Bass. Acoustic, Jazz Ballad
RT725: Piano. Acoustic, Rhythm Jazz Ballad
RealDrums: JazzBrushes2FeelAtB

Wow Heidi and Will.

This is now just so polished.

Loved it from the first note.

Heidi's vocal expression is absolutely superb.

I enjoyed the simplistically of the backing with the bass driving the entire song throughout.

Hi Will,
Just a voice and a jazz trio… But what an expressive voice ! And I like the warmth and the depth of these instruments.
No need anything else. Jazz is here.

Will and Heidi,

Very nice indeed! I remember the instrumental track and I liked it back then, but adding Heidi to the mix really kicks things up a notch or two.

She can sing! Very smooth sound.

Great collaboration you two, enjoyed!

Well, that's how it's done, isn't it? Great choices made all the way around. I didn't realize those were RD's until I went back and read it.

True to the genre. Well done!

Heidi is a fantastic singer. Your backing tracks a superb as is your mix. Your arrangement is outstanding.

Will & Heidi,
Wonderful vocals on a highly professional backtrack.
The change at 1:40 is so darn good... as is the vocalist`s phrasing, the bass and everything else.
Terrific collaboration!

A new song in almost all aspects.
A lovely job.
I'm not sure the lengthy bass centred "solo" works though - way to long and it really needs the vocal melody played with just a little bit to hold my attention.

Cheers

Smooth, classy and sophisticated are words that immediately come to mind.

A fine write and vocal to go with it.

Sublime....

Great track all around. Really expressive and nuanced vocals from Heidi with that smoky jazz tone that I love. Very well mixed and produced too - the simplicity and spareness of the instruments let's the subtle vocals and the lounge vibe really shine through.
