I woke up that morning... turned on the radio and was told to stay at home and close all my doors and windows. One of the most scary days of my life. I have tried to capture the sad feeling of those days in April and May 1986 and also the style of music made at that time (with a touch of nuclear percussion). Did I succeed? Any comment is very much appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/user-656274325/april-26th-1986Will RT's used: 2271: Bass, Synth, DiscoOctaves 1941: Synth Rhythm, Eurodance 2205: Guitar Electric, PopPromiseBrent 2747: Synth, Rhythm, AltHipHopHorn ...and 2 loops.

I guess I'm too old for this forum... I live in Denmark and I remember being told to stay at home and close all windows and doors, because a radioactive sky was on its way to Scandinavia. That kind of message is not what you want to hear when you are young and have plans for the future. It turned out to be less scary later when experts said that the radiation levels were not dangerous for people in Scandinavia... but people living close to Chernobyl in Ukraine were not so lucky...

Will,
I think the percussive bass sound, which reminds me of something terrible, has been successful. At that time I was a new employee working for the import section. I often remember that French wine and Italian pasta could not be imported to Japan for the time being. You always make unusual music. Very interesting. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

1941 is the perfect time n place sound for 1986. The experts were less than honest as we now know. There's cool sense of foreboding and movement in your piece.

Excellent job on this, Will! I like how the track builds in intensity and how you incorporated the vocal clips.
Enjoyed the listen, well done!

Will,
A good piece. The solo guitar was a good choice - just the right amount of chaotic urgency to it. Good mix.
A good reminder of the event.

Very atmospheric and a nicely composed and arranged piece. Think you achieved your goal here.

I think it's successful! As Dave said, it's got a good build to it, and the solos give it energy. It reminded me a bit of the Alan Parsons instrumental Apollo. Since I'm an Alan Parsons fan, that's a compliment.

Will, yep you got that 1980s vibe in it. I liked the solo and radio/tv clips A bit different from your previous tunes, but interesting.
P.S. I was a child, but remember it very well. That WAS very scary time! Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

I remember this time well. I was working at a nuclear power plant at the time (well, as a tour guide at their visitor's center).
You've captured the mood and the tension well -- and also the decade.
The sound bites are a nice touch.
Enjoyable listen.

Well done, I remember it well, it scared the whole world but apparently not enough. Music fit the subject matter, Peter Jennings' voice gave it gravitas.

Will, A well constructed atmospheric piece- the voice overs just long enough to give context and solo guitar raising the temperature,so to speak. A stylish soundtrack to a very disturbing event.

First off, great progression. There were a couple of unexpected "moves" to my years, but that so well fits the overall theme of the piece while still being musical and coherent. Second, the mix sounds good at mid-high volume on the phones, Lastly, the lead sections reinvigorated the piece very well.
I was hoping for a long, slow fade...but that's a choice made and I won't second-guess it. Very much enjoyed this.

I remember Chernobyl. That was a terrible accident.
I believe your song captured exactly what you said in your description. Adding the news report explained it all. Adding that guitar lead created a scary intense image of a scared individual.
This is an outstanding piece of music.

Hi Will,
I remember the day after this event, when we were staring at our garden from behind our window. On the radio was the message not using anything from out of the garden because of the radioactivity. Was a scary feeling. Today we were planning to watch a tv series about Chernobil...
Your song has a very good rhythm and tension in it, build up by the vocals. And then there came that excellent solo! Well done, Will
Hans
