I wanted to try the new Ampire guitar amp simulators in the Studio One DAW, so I created this 12/8 feel track. It was all recorded direct with a Fender Strat.

BIAB provides the wurli electric piano, bass, and drums.

There are two rhythm guitars, panned left and right, that use the Vox amp. The one on the right has some phaser and tremolo via the virtual pedalboard that comes with the amp sim.

The melody guitars use their Marshall simulation. Even the wah pedal is the amp sim. Automation was used to 'move' a virtual foot on the wah pedal to get the effect.

Nice playing throughout inventive and kept my interest(nice wah parts). Amp sims these days are quite incredible, especially for recording purposes.

did you use cab impulses in the DAW or were the sims complete with cabs?
There's a lot of chatter about sims and things - being that most BIAB real tracks are pretty low fi & no one seems to complain about hearing that aspect I suspect it would take very good ears + experience to recognize a good sim these days - the days of fizzy top end seem long gone (mainly due to cab implses I suspect).

In Studio One, the Ampire plugin comes with cabinet sims as well. I used the stock, matched version for the Vox and Marshall. But you can see in the screen shot that any other cabinet they included could be substituted. They also give the option of loading your own impulse responses.

If it sounds good in the context for which I'm using it, I'll use it. If not, I try something else. Many times the sound will suggest the part.

Nice work on this one smile Love the groove on this one, and the guitar work has a lot of character to it. Definitely giving me a 80's vibe here.

This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
