EDM? I started this song with hold my beer as I am so far out of my comfort zone it isn't funny.! EDM is a genre that I am not that familiar but I thought I would give it a try. So please those whom are familiar with EDM let me know if I am close or not to the genre. PS - This is what happens when an old man drinks to much Geritol! Also I know this genre is not what is usually posted here, in fact it may be the first time, and many may not like it. I just wanted to prove that BiaB is capable of generating all genres. BiaB style - Proton High-Energy MIDI Club Tempo - 130 BPM I deleted the strings and guitar. Bass - Vacuum Pro -Brute Bass RD Piano - Synthmaster 2 - BT Melting Images Drums - UVI Workstation - classic 808 Me via my keyboard controller: 1-Synthmaster One - ARP Multi Saw 2-Twist 2 - 052 Rewobble 3-Kontakt - Synths 11 - Abyss Collection and Grandular Library - 009 Bold Olmain 4-Kontakt - Nebulae II - Hollow Sun - Black Hole As always all comments are welcomed.

Hello Mario. there is no age to follow different paths. Your song will be a hit at rave parties with young zombies with their ears glued to the speakers. I think it's good: your song not the zombies. Laurent

Nice to see a BIAB EDM effort. The top-end (melody line) sounds good. The Bottom needs help. A stronger Kick and a Much Stronger/Deeper/Sub-ier Bass. They are essential. Keep it up! Do some more!

What Floyd said. It's a pretty good start, but needs a lot more low-end. I would either have the kick trigger another kick or just a low sine wave (there are free plugins for this) and either EQ the bass like there's no tomorrow or just use a different one.

I had no idea BiaB had this style. Yeah it could use more low-end but that's easy to remedy. I like it!

Hi, Mario. Why would anyone complain about using different styles? Isn't that one of the selling features of the software, to allow you to explore genres? Since I know nothing about EDM, I'll just note that enjoyed it. ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)

Mario, very cool! I'm the furthest thing from an EDM expert as you'll find on this forum, but I really appreciate the layers of sound you built and how they percolate across the beat. Am not a dancer, but pretty sure somebody could dance to this. I might need to find some Geritol...

EDM or not, it still has that Mario coolness. Do you do rap, too? Very hypnotic pulse, but that's all I know about EDM.

fj Thanx so much Floyd for those suggestions. That is exactly the kind of information that I needed. I have only listened to a couple of EDM songs but I was not paying attention to how it was constructed. I will be attempting another EDM in the near future that utilizes your suggestions.

So Mario, Yes it sounds like EDM to me. But there is a price to be paid for doing this type of thing. I want you now to get up from your computer and wander through your house shaking your groove thing like it's 1999 with full energy and full-on booty galore until you just can't party no more. When you reach the point of total exhaustion then you will know that you have done your duty. Man you sure are cranking out the tunes my brother!!! ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)

Thanx David! "I want you now to get up from your computer and wander through your house shaking your groove thing like it's 1999 with full energy and full-on booty galore until you just can't party no more." I don't need to do anything like that! I can't party any more even without getting all tired and sweaty!

Mario...it's not my cup-o-tea but I believe that musical experimentation in different genres helps us grow in our appreciation of all of its forms...as usual you have jumped into the deep end an came out alive...do you do schlager or dubstep as well? you are the "MIDI master" and a "genre giant" my friend.

When we hear EDM during a tv series or in a commercial it's a race to who can hit the remote mute button first! ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) However we greatly commend you for your curiosity, experimental nature and, perhaps, bravery. And it does nothing but good for folks new to BiaB to hear examples of its amazing versatility. Knowing zip about the fundamentals of the genre your song sounded good on our monitors. I fully realize that floyd and other's suggestions regarding the low end could well plant our monitors on the back wall. ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) Have fun! J&B

EDM is not my thing, but this certainly works for club dancing. The only dance moves I know - at least when I'm not incorporating tai chi - are what I learned back in my teens in the 60s (when we was fab and slowly evolving to far-outitude), which is a bit like moonwalking without the walking part, so when listening to this I automatically found my feet flowing with it. Keep up the great 'n'groovy 'sperimenting!
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #17: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #69: Bring consciousness to it. #74: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #105: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Well, your EDM song fit nicely with the 'modern music' Soundcloud commercial that followed. So, you must of done something right. Nice work.

As someone who has made bouncy electronic music on my old Korg 01-wfd synth workstation(albeit a bit darker in tone), I gotta say that I like your stuff. I enjoy listening to music like that and look forward to your next song using this genre.
I am not sure I could do this on my version of BIAB, though. Do you have one of the higher end version? I haven't found too much electronic/techno stuff on mine.

Floyd has the goods on this - the top end, melody line and arrangement are solid but the bottom end isn't solid enough - the snare off to the left is too natural a as well. Get the bottom end really pumping. I like to top half.

Thanx so much and I would like to hear your music. I have the ultra-pak and I use MIDI. You can check and see if you have the style that I used. Yes BiaB doesn't have a lot of electronic, techno, ambient, new age, or other genres BUT with MIDI you can take other genres and turn them into them. All it takes is a little imagination and experimentation.

Cool stuff there. I'm listening on my office computer speakers. I'll check again later on my studio rig with the sub. Overall..... nice work. It could use some variation throughout. It remains kind of constant which becomes boring with time. Shake it up and make it interesting. While EDM tends to ride a constant chord.... there are parts that work well with changes. You don't want to fall into a 1-4-5 thing though. Listen to the demos on the link below. You should grab this plugin. GLITCH It has the sorts of FX you can use effectively in this genre.... the dives, the echos, the demodulations, and a bunch of other things. I had this on my old computer but haven't grabbed the new version yet since I don't often need this sort of effect. But for dance music it's a good tool to have in the pocket.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Thanx so much Herb for your incite to EDM. Glitch2 looks like a great tool for EDM and if I get more into EDM I will purchase it. My plans right now are to do one more EDM utilizing all of the suggestions I have received.
