RealTracks Artist Bio: Joaquin Benitez


Joaquin Benitez is a conductor and bandoneon player specializing in Argentinian music. He began playing at the age of 9 years old, and in 2006 he attended the escuela de musica de SADAIC, and studied under Ricardo Ojeda.

Since 2005 Joaquin has been the director of the group, Benitez Y Benitez, along with his father, Oscar, on guitar and brother, Damián, on bandoneon. With his family’s band, he performed in festivals in Misiones, Corrientes, Buenos Aires, Brazil and Paraguay. They also performed for radio and television, such as Channel 9 “A la manner de Sofovich”, channel 13 in “El Casting de la Tele ”, Encuentro Channel with Chango Spaciuk, and the documentary “Small Universes” chapter Missions.

In 2012 Joaquin competed in Corrientes, in the Fiesta Nacional e Internacional del Chamamé, and was the winner in the instrumental soloist category. Also, he won the Pre Cosquin at the Oberá Sub-Headquarters, Misiones. In addition, since 2012 he was a member of Quinteto Tangazo, which focuses on Astor Piazzola repertoire. He has performed with such renowned figures such as Ramon Ayala, Pedro Aznar, Amelita Baltar, and more.
