RealTracks Set 87... Audio Demos!
ELDB165 Style Demo
This demo features the slightly distorted fast strumming electric guitar style from RealTracks Set 87. This version of the style uses barre-chords only, making for a more controlled sound. This guitar style is multi-functional, being used here in a RealTracks band reminiscent of late 70s American Pop, but can also be used in modern rock or even country settings. It's joined in this band by Fingerpicking Acoustic Guitar from RealTracks Set 8, B3 Organ from Set 47, "Metal" Electric Bass from Set 6, and the NashvilleEven8 RealDrums style.
ELCO120 Style Demo
This mid-tempo even 8ths RealStyle uses the "Clean" version of the Strumming Electric Guitar from RealTracks Set 87. This tune is played in the key of G minor, but these RealTracks style can be used in any key. These styles were recorded at the tempos of 85, 120 & 165, and since Band-in-a-Box is able to stretch the file to a certain degree, all of the tempos in between are covered as well. This RealStyle also uses Fingerpicking Acoustic Guitar, B3 Organ, and the PopHalfNotesPush Electric Bass RealTracks styles.
ELCB085 Style Demo
This demo uses the slower ballad tempo of the "CleanBarre" Strumming Electric Guitar style from RealTracks Set 87. It's joined here by both Strumming and Fingerpicking Acoustic Guitar, "PopHalfNotes" Electric Bass, and RockLiteEven8 RealDrums.
ELCO165 Style Demo
This RealStyle pairs the fast open-chords, Clean Strumming Electric Guitar from RealTracks Set 87 with our Background Pop Harmonica style from Set 47. Joining in the band are Strumming Acoustic Guitar & PopHalfNotes Electric Bass. The drums are the NashvilleBrushesCountryPopEv16 style from RealDrums Set 26.
ELCB120 Style Demo
This demo features the Strumming Electric Guitar with clean tone playing barre-chords in a pop-country setting. The bass is the "Metal" style (which is just straight 8th notes), and it includes the "Allis" background Resonator Guitar style from RealTracks Set 8. The sound is rounded out by basic Strumming Acoustic Guitar, also from Set 8, and the NashvilleEven8 RealDrums.
ELCO085 Style Demo
The demo uses the slow open-chords, Clean Strumming Electric Guitar RealTracks style playing over some clever pop changes. At bar 17, the song changes key to the major VI chord. Major pop songs often employ key changes to the minor VI chord, so this slight change gives the ear something new and memorable to grab on to. The other instruments here are Fingerpicking Acoustic Guitar, Pop B3 Organ, and the PopHalfNotesSync Electric Bass style.
ELCB165 Style Demo
This song uses the fast barre-chords Clean Electric Guitar RealTracks style from Set 87. This song is a bit of a guitar-fest, with both Fingerpicking and Strumming Acoustic Guitars added to the mix. One technique commonly used to make sure situations like these offer a full sound rather than a cluttered sound is the use of panning. If multiple guitars are panned slightly left and right, this often makes the difference between guitars competing against each other and guitars complementing one another. The drums in this demo, NashvilleEven8, use a variation that employs a dramatic change at the B substyle. At A, the drums play a very subtle sidestick pattern, and at B they switch to a much more energetic open hi-hat pattern. In this particular song, this change coincides very nicely with the dramatic key change from G to Bb.
ELDB085 Style Demo
This demo uses the slow barre-chords Dirty Electric Guitar RealTracks style from Set 87. This guitar uses a very mild distortion to give it a slightly grittier sound than it's clean counterpart. The chord progression here makes frequent use of the II7 chord, a very common technique universal to all genres of music from Classical to Jazz, Pop & Country. 90% of the time it's used as a strong push towards the V chord, and that's how it's used here at bars 6, 14 & 30. The Electric Guitar is joined here by an All-RealTracks band of Acoustic Guitar, B3 Organ, Electric Bass & Drums.
ELDB120 Style Demo
In this demo, the Dirty Barre-chords Electric Guitar style is used over a minor chord progression. Like all RealTracks, this style can be used in any key, major or minor, and can play any chord you care to enter in your song. It's joined here by Strumming Acoustic Guitar, B3 Organ and Electric Bass RealTracks, as well as the NashvilleEven8 RealDrums style from RealDrums Set 6.
ELDO085 Style Demo
This RealStyle uses the open-chords, slightly distorted version of the slow Strumming Electric Guitar RealTracks from Set 87. It's joined by an All-RealTracks band of Strumming Acoustic Guitar, B3 Organ, the "HalfNotesSync" Electric Bass, and the "RockRootsEv8" RealDrums style from RealDrums Set 22.
ELDO120 Style Demo
This demo feature the open-chords, distorted version of the mid-tempo Strumming Electric Guitar style from RealTracks Set 87. The majority of the song uses the very common pop-rock progression of I-VIm-IV-V (starting after the 4-bar intro). This progression is a slight variation on the jazz progression of I-VI-II-V, where the IV chord replaces the II. The overall effect of this change is a more folky sound, which is generally more appropriate to pop, rock and country. In this particular song, is doesn't repeat that particular progression, but rather lets it lead into different, more original chord choices (repeating only when the entire chorus is repeated). This RealStyle also uses Fingerpicking Acoustic Guitar, B3 Organ & Electric Bass RealTracks, as well as the NashvilleEven8 RealDrums style.
ELDO165 Style Demo
In this song, the open-chords, distorted version of the fast Strumming Electric Guitar style from RealTracks Set 87 is used over a I-VIm-IV-V progression. This progression was used in another Set 87 demo, _ELDO120. Here, however, because of the faster tempo, the chords last 2 full bars, rather than only 1. It's fairly common for faster songs to extend the length of chords, since the faster tempo often negates the need for frequent chord changes. This certainly isn't a hard-fast rule, however, as demonstrated in the B section of the song where the chords change every two beats. This textural change is matched in the NashvilleEven8 RealDrums, where the A section uses a more understated sidestick pattern, which switches to a snare and open hi-hat pattern at B. Other RealTracks in this demo include Fingerpicking Acoustic Guitar, B3 Organ, and Electric Bass.
