I've only had BIB/RB for two weeks, but am learning it by making versions of my songs as performed by other bands. I'm wondering which bands are hiding in the Styles other than these:

Rolling Stones
Dire Straits
ZZ Top

What bands have you discovered?

Start at "A", and go through to "Z". grin

yep... there's a bunch.

Did you see The Eagles in there?

Plus, individual artists as well.

A-Z is pretty cryptic, most styles don't have the name of the band on them. I had to decipher that Texas meant ZZ Top. That's why I asked about specific band styles. Is U2 represented?

I think the intent was to tell you just to browse through the styles on your own. Most styles will say in the description what band it's like. It doesn't take too long too surf through them. That's the same way anyone else would do it. No disrespect meant.

That was a joke. But if you want to search for a band in the style search window type in the band or artist's name. You can search for bands just like you can search for genre's and instruments.

Some of the band and performer names are misspelled in the style picker; I suspect that was done to avoid copyright or trademark issues. But you can usually figure it out when you see it. However, if you type the correct name in a search box, you'll miss it.

It really is a style more than a band. Some are labeled with mis-spellings as John noted, yet are good labels for the realtracks. However, there could be a lot of different styles labeled Rolling Stones; they did a lot of different kinds of songs.
Girl with Far Away Eyes is a lot different than Jumpin Jack Flash and both were a lot different than Sympathy for the Devil ..

There are Grunge and Thrash realtrack/realdrum sets in there, as Rock related styles.
Tell me which band you want to label them as. <grin>

It would be nice to be able to search the description field .. or incorporate a related 'tags' table where users could add tags on their own systems. So if I wanted to tag a style as a particular song I could, so I'd remember it later.

If I want the realdrums style I used before in a particular song, it would be nice to not have to open that song to see what I used, but rather have a reference in the 'picker' dialogue.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Not as many as you would want. True there are many (a lot really) rock styles represented and you can find just about any generic rock style. You will however be hard pressed to find more than handful of styles that you can specifically say that sounds like so and so. The Dire Straits one is pretty spot on though.

Hard rock is severely under represented and you will find a hand full of recorded generic hard rock styles. The LA guitars or a few of the praise and worship guitars for example.

You have to work really hard through using the DI guitar realtracks and edit them in a DAW to start creating specific rock band styles. If you have an amp simulator you can dial in just about any iconic band sound you want. So in a round about way they are in there you just have to work to get them out.

I for one would like to see more hard rock rhythm styles but that's just me. I also wouldn't mind a few more hard rock soloist realtracks by an actual hard rock soloist. I love Brett Mason but the metal soloist are severely lacking in iconic but generic metal guitar riffs.

I use Logic Pro X and with it's zillion amps and stomp boxes you can dramatically alter the guitar RT's that have the direct input option.

BTW, 90db -- laughing out loud at those pix -- particularly of Phil. Reckon his wall of sound assuredly came tumbling down.
