Can't get to RealTracks on the external drive #473569 05/19/18 08:40 AM Beginners Forum

OP ffreniere Enthusiast F Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 18	I'm running BIAB 2016 on Windows 10. Everything was working yesterday. Today I can't reach RealTracks on E: drive, and the blue light on the external drive shuts off after about 5 minutes. I did a software update/patch recently per your recommendation. So I go to update the the custom folder for RealTracks. I scroll down to something called ESP:E - never seen that before. But the program won't accept it. When I try to open ESP, I have no permission to access that folder. I hit the continue tab and I'm asked to allow the BIAB app to make a change. I click OK but I'm denied again - says I need to use the security tab. When I click OK there,nothing changes and I'm back to square one. I am mystified and frustrated - appreciate your help.

Matt Finley Veteran Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 25,983 Hudson Valley & Lake George NY	I have never seen something called ESP like you describe, but Google has a lot of info on it. I suspect Windows remapped your BIAB drive to another letter. Perhaps you had another USB device plugged in? Try using MyComputer or This PC to find the drive that is BIAB and look up how to reassign it a new drive letter, and pick one that is higher so it won’t get preempted. I use letter M for my drive. Then you will have to go into Preferences RealTracks and change the location (and do the same for RealDrums). BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors

Kent - PG Music PG Music Staff K Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 1,382	Hi Ffreniere, If you shut down the computer, disconnect the BIAB drive, then turn the computer back on, is that ESP device still listed? If not, does it reappear when you reconnect the hard drive? It looks like ESP is an EFI System Partition, so this may be a partition on your main hard drive, not the USB drive. The above test will tell us more. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/9612d18b-9be3-478b-a4ae-f0f934971b96/why-am-i-getting-a-new-drive-listed-called-esp-f?forum=w8itprogeneral If it turns out that the ESP drive is something else, please try reseating the USB drive as shown in the following tutorial: http://www.pgmusic.com/tutorial_hd-troubleshoot.htm Your hard drive enclosure will likely be pretty different, and will come apart by removing the two screws on either side, near the end that the cable plugs into. His latest video, Convert MIDI Chords into AI Vocal Harmonies with ACE Studio and Band-in-a-Box, he explains in detail how you can use the Melodist feature in Band-in-a-Box with ACE Studio. Follow along as he goes from "nothing" to "something" with his Band-in-a-Box MIDI Melodist track, using ACE Studio to turn it into a vocal track (or tracks, you'll see) by adding lyrics for those notes that will trigger some amazing AI vocals!
