This is the instrumental I originally collected the David Gubler railway photographs for, which I ended up using for the "Aya Rocks V3: Sun Train" video as they were so good they distracted from the music of this superior "Isle of Yu Train Ride" ~ one of my favourites from my A list. Thus this new video only contains 1 train image and it's mirror version as the emphasis is on the music. The Isle of Yu is fictional from a book I'm writing, thus as the drums, percussion, then shortly the bass and 2 rhythm guitars come in I image a steam train similar to that in the video chugging away from the capital's station platforms. When the marimba and kalimba next com in I picture the train crossing a network of railway lines just outside the station; then when the organ enters I see the train now passing through the outskirts of the small city of Yu. Next, as the piano solo flows in I imagine the train now travelling through Isle of Yu countryside on it's way to the coast; then finally when the guitar solo steams in I visualise being aboard the train and viewing a beautiful coast to the east. Eventually the journey ends at its destination, the smaller coastal city, Yuluv-meetu (not in the book!).. Chay, love how you have a narrative thread connecting your music and novel. That's pretty cool! (Thanks also for explaining the symbolism in your previous video. I appreciate that!)
I can picture the train journey exactly as you describe it occurring across this song. You've got a talent for weaving RealTracks into music that really breathes. Sometimes hard to pull off in an instrumental, but not for you from everything I've heard. You've mixed the instruments really well for a great listening experience, too. I did jump when the guitar solo started, and at first thought it was too loud, but I settled into it as the song rolled along.
Great job!

Your piece builds like a train gaining speed to the runaway point near the 3 minute mark. Mix is good. Good use of BIAB.

WaoBand, catchy & smooth tune. Interesting connection to text. Well mixed and listens well. You need train whistle fx Thank you for sharing, Misha.

Chay, the picture you painted via your words matches the picture you painted via the instrumental. You really are an expert in choosing and blending various RTs. Loved it.
My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

DC Ron, Floyd, Vic, Misha and Mario, thanks very much for you great feedback!
Ron, I forced myself to lower the guitar solo by 0.5db before uploading it, but it can't go lower than that without clashing with the piano. I expected I'd have to switch to another piano sample, a rhythm one, once the guitar comes in as the piano is still plying solo, but for once I found it worked better left in as it helps drive the track along.
Mario, I struck really lucky as the Danny Rader guitar solo was the 1st sample of his that I tried - though I first tried solos from other styles - and it just 100% hit the mark. It's the tricky thing with samples and regenerations because if I switched to another regeneration of the DR solo it would have sounded completely different and not nearly as good.

That's an enjoyable tune for travelling along!
Nice and punchy when the lead guitar kicks in.

Well composed, great narrative, and a cool track choice. And it is all wrapped in an engaging arrangement and mix.
All board for the fun ride!

Yo, Chay. Please let me know when that book is done --and hurry up. Man, this is really cool. I like how it builds. When the solo first came in it was like the conductor asking for tickets, but then it all made the ride even more pleasurable. A wonderful travelling song that I can tell ya works well in the car too.

Pleasing and very relaxing to be sure but have you considered adding lyrics to parallel the book content?

WaoBand,
Latin grooves are effective. The atmosphere in which the train starts running and the scenery seen from the window changes one after another is very well expressed. I imagine a fun trip. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

Many thanks Janice & Bud, Marty, Dewey, David S and Shigeki for your great feedback.
Marty: re the book mentioned, I give it's title in the actual YT blurb, but it's the sequel to a trilogy-length 'epic science fiction gnostic quest' novel, so a lot wouldn't make sense if you'd not read the original first. I won't give any links here as it's not the place, but on Amazon US I have one really good 5 star rating which is a better ad for the book than my own blurb about it.
Dewey: I've not yet considered writing lyrics to go with this music, but I currently have lyrics for 4 other instrumentals posted here, 2 being written decades ago as the posts here are just instrumental versions of the songs, while 2 are new lyrics written after the instrumentals were composed. One of those I have half the lyrics sung by a brilliant lady vocalist, but the project was cancelled by another person who I'll not say more about, so I'm now looking for another female vocalist to complete the recording. The other I'll probably sing myself, but I currently have no possibility of recording where I live.
