Sails on Soundcloud Sails on YouTube A song about a sailing adventure that lasted a lifetime. Only with BiaB can (at least this) one afford to have 4 guitars (not including the one I added), 2 pianos, 2 drummers, a synth, and a steel drum in one session for a song that probably isn't good enough to make the album. SailsI saw her sailing in the moonlight. Her hair was trailing in the breeze. Her dangling foot splashed through the water. I watched though mangrove trees. All the night sounds skipped a beat and my heart fell low in tow. The serene scene held it's grip on me. I knew she'd never know. Her hull so quickly whispered by me. She smiled up briefly to the moon. Her sparkling eyes increased my longing. I looped in love's lagoon. Soon the wind took her away and my heart sank deep into the sea. I vowed to find her in that boat one day to sail her home with me. I see her sailing in the sunlight. She's smiling back at me right now We sail around our favorite islands. She lays across my bow. All the seagulls sing our song, and they chase away the glooming gray. So every day we both sing along, and then we'll sail away. V-- Cm (^Cm-F-F-F) Cm F Cm (^Cm-F-F-F) Dm Gm Cm F Dm G Cm F Bb Gm... SO smooth! Well done, Marty. One of your best songs, I think - and definitely, definitely good enough for the album! Those tropical instruments (whatever do you call them? haha) around the 2 minute mark ... great stuff, and great modulation into the major, to go with them . Loved it all - this song is kind of "understated", perhaps? but still pulls the listener in. Enjoyed it

Marty, super track indeed! LOVE your vocals, and the bass and guitar really pop. Inventive arrangement, and the shift to C major for the solo was a nice lift. WAY more BiaB instruments than I've ever been brave enough to put on a track, but you've crafted them into a groovy, seamless sound. Awesome and very inspirational. Another nice one!

Marty,
MAN! your Bass sounds good! Or Great! For me it was the center and all those other instruments swirled around it (like the Sun). A very cool mix of instruments. Well used steel drums! You brought the ocean and the islands to us. And you got the girl!
Excellent Mix.

I really like the slightly reggae style, the steeldrum part brings freshness and the mixture of music and images arouses the imagination. Laurent

Cool stuff. A sailboat, a woman , and tropical setting...... Great song. Something that Jimmy Buffett would appreciate.
I enjoyed the journey. And not a single drop of rum.....

Loved it all - this song is kind of "understated", perhaps? but still pulls the listener in. Enjoyed it Thanks, James! Yeah, that major lift represents the time he sailed around looking for her. When he finally found her, things went back to normal --only better. Thanks, Ron. Sometimes the crappier the song, the more it needs a wall of sound --musical prestidigitation.

Marty, when I read "A song about a sailing adventure that lasted a lifetime." I said oh great, a song about the SS Minnow! Super vocal, instrumentation, and mix. Great bass. Loved that steel drum segment! IMHO this is your best to date.

Really love the feel of this one Marty!!! I love how the mood picks up with the steel drums!! I too am a big fan of sailing. My dad owned 3 boats through my childhood and teen years and I have such wonderful memories of those times. Working on a sailing song myself. Really enjoyed this, and I always love to hear you sing!! Take care. Greg

The changes in the flow of this work perfectly. Excellent song as ever.

As you know, I really like this song, Marty, nice feel.
I love that little melodic part you are playing on your Parker, nice little hook that makes the song for me.

Nicely done! Thanks, David. It's all based on Coconuts, The Marx Brothers movie. Marty,

fj Thanks, floyd. BIG SMILE on the bass compliment. Turned out she wasn't really worth all that trouble, so he joined the merchant marines. Maybe there'll be a sequel. I really like the slightly reggae style, the steeldrum part brings freshness and the mixture of music and images arouses the imagination. Laurent Thanks so much, Laurent. I thought I was getting a little carried away with that sailing search in the Carribean. Cool stuff. A sailboat, a woman , and tropical setting...... Great song. Something that Jimmy Buffett would appreciate.
I enjoyed the journey. And not a single drop of rum..... Thanks, Herb. Yo-ho-ho, how 'bout some Red Stripe?

Marty, when I read "A song about a sailing adventure that lasted a lifetime." I said oh great, a song about the SS Minnow! Super vocal, instrumentation, and mix. Great bass. Loved that steel drum segment! IMHO this is your best to date. Maynard G. Krebbs goes to sea. Thanks, Mario. Take care. Greg Thanks much, Greg. My favorite line (in addition to you loving my singing, which is crazy considering the voice that said it) is "Working on a sailing song myself." Sailing is such a wonderful experience. Looking forward to your song about it. Hi, Marty. Lyrics, vocals, arrangement, steel drum interlude: cool little song. Thank you, David. Your work with synths, the Peter Gannon video on doing it in BiaB, and my vocals are strongly pushing me into trying it. The changes in the flow of this work perfectly. Excellent song as ever. Thanks, Chay. Bridges are supposed to be different than the rest of the song, but this one is maybe too different, but it may have ended up being that sailor's favorite part of the adventure if the hunt was better than the catch.

The funky wah wah made us feel like we were on the ocean waves. We can almost see the sparkling waters.
Those steel drums are so cool! Great BiaB session folks all around.
Your vocal and bass performances are smooooooth as is the fine mix. Man, how you can make that many tracks work and still not sound dense is amazing.
And we love the happy ending!
Enjoyed the trip!

I've been busy lately on another project (actually 2 projects) so I'm quite behind on visiting the Showcase but I'll join with the others who say this is album worthy. You may have used a bunch of BiaB tracks, but it in no way sounds cluttered or too crowded. Most likely because of 3M: The Marty Method of Mixing As always, nice work on the fat strings. Well done.
https://soundcloud.com/user-646279677BiaB 2024 Windows For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.
