I'm a huge fan of your lyric skills.
Reminiscent of Springsteen without the E Street Band. Especially the chorus
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Hi Bob,
Where is Joliz?
A lovely song! Like that guitarplay, filled up by the other instruments during the song. The combination of organ and Pedal steel turns out very cool! I might consider doing that too in a song. Although they aren't my favorite instruments, but you made them sound so cool here.
The lyrics are great, of course. You always portray the situation of your songs so beautifully. Enjoyed it a lot! Hans

For some reason yesterday, I watched Springsteen's video for "The Streets of Philadelphia." "Streets" reminds me of that song. Great job with the lyrics as usual. You know I'm a fan.

Super song, Bob! The line about "poets beats" takes me straight to "On the Road", which I've read dozens of times. Very emotive and raw. LOVE it! Very cool acoustic guitars, and the organ and steel provide nice ambient textures. Superb job, sir.

Another great song - the poetry of real dream times long gone - and "we still find out way".
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Oh, man, Bob Dean lyrics are by far the best. And you consistently manage to present them in the best melody and mood. What a fine production that carries the mind away with you. I wanted to quote my favorite lines from this one, and... well, I narrowed it down to this:
I feel the days falling away I know that you feel the same All the years now on display In between some light and shade
Midnight starlight Music on the square We used to be there Running in the shadows Rapping with the poets beats We used to walk these streets
The echo of those days remain In the corners where we used to play Time slips through like rain But we still find our way
Midnight starlight Music on the square We used to be there Running in the shadows Rapping with the poets beats We used to walk these streets
Whispers of a brighter dawn In the places where we once belonged
Midnight starlight Music on the square We used to be there Running in the shadows Rapping with the poets beats We used to walk these streets

Wow, another one! So good. You definitely have your own voice (I don't mean literal voice) in your simple but eloquent and evocative lyric writing and in your composition.

Wow. Yes, the lyrics are phenomenal. But ... for me, what hit me first, when I heard this song, was the harmonies. Beautiful, beautiful, complex (to my ears) chord progression. Loved it. One of your best, from every perspective, Bob. I will definitely listen to this one again and again. Great job, well done.

Ace lyrics...sparse arrangement - personally I'd pull back some of the clattering drum track & make it more so. Your voice warmed up as you went along - the 1st verse seemed a little uncertain. No geographical reference but The Square is small town/large town, city ubiquitous so serves. ACE .
