He recorded at least thirteen versions of the tune, which is a jazz standard and a mainstay of the gypsy swing repertoire. In my version I play all the guitars as well as banjos (plectrum and tenor). Yesterday, I was streaming the Quintette du Hot Club de France albums with Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli on violin and band. Their version of Nuages (track 22 of 23 on the St. Louis Blues compilation album) is excellent. That version was released in 1940 as a 78 RPM single on the French Swing label. Still going strong today, thanks to musicians like you! Have heard this tune in mono so many times that stereo was jarring at first, but that's how it has to be. Nice one!
