The tracks default to 90 in RB (I think)

I'm wondering what he is comparing it to.
If it's something like Win Media Player, make sure the volume is all the way up there (and in the windows mixer).
If it's a different device, make sure both devices are set all the way up.
You won't get true meter readings in RB if you pull the tracks back, and it's not recommended if you want to mix/master.
I suspect what Mick is comparing RB to is turned down, and RB isn't.

Adjust whatever you are comparing it to, and then turn down the monitoring system. RB has no way to 'amplify' the sound (except FX in the main output), it can only cut. Same with other audio software. The other software that you are comparing RB to must be 'cutting' the volume more than RB. It would be rare if that were not the case.
