Thanks for the suggestion rharv, unfortunately I'm using Vista. I run everything as an administrator. I opened the control panel for users but can't see anything to turn down. I've turned all system sounds off except for the windows startup sound. The beep happens in real tracks generation as well but only if I click on genre, artist etc. It doesn't do it if I click on the real tracks name. I'm thinking it's an error beep as it has happened in my Publisher programmme when I select a font for the first time after launching the programme but then the whole thing freezes. RB isn't freezing at all. BIAB has an option to turn off "OK to beep with messages" under preferences and I think BIAB used to beep as well until I unchecked it. I can always just take off my headphones when I select if I can't fix it. Thanks for the feedback.
