That's what I am trying to avoid. Those 8 worthless tracks.

Well, I don't see those top eight as worthless tracks, because if I open a BIAB file explicitly, it's got to put the tracks from the BIAB file somewhere - that would be the first 8 or 9 tracks. That's the way it's been since RB was introduced (and originally, you couldn't convert them to regular tracks). They are then there as placeholders in the event you decide you want to try the song with a different style - again, if you choose a style, any style, and click generate, it's going to generate the BIAB-specific tracks. That's because RB has BIAB features in it. What shows up on those tracks (MIDI and/or RealInstruments) depends on the style you choose - there are all-Real styles, all MIDI-styles, and mixed-styles.

I don't see the confusion there.

Now, during beta testing, my suggestion was to use the last 8 tracks (41-48) for BIAB tracks and let us use the first 40 for user tracks, but that was nixed (probably because they wanted to highlight the new feature, which is valid).

But again, if you are explicitly opening a BIAB file, that's where they go. If you don't open a BIAB file and don't press the generate button (which you don't need to if you are not generating BIAB tracks), you won't need to worry about them if you convert them all to regular.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it doesn't seem a big deal to me.
