RealBand 2012 build 5 - Win 7 64 bit - Tascam US-144mkII - ASIO drivers...
Question:
When I record a mono live performance track, is it possible to pan the input signal to the middle instead of just hearing it in the left / right speaker ? In the Audio prefs. I have the Input Channel for MONO tracks set to 'Left' and use the left (ch1) input on the Tascam.
I can monitor the input fine but would like to be able to move what I'm hearing dead-center instead of just in the left earphone ? Possible ?

Hi Mitch,
If you're using the Tascam's built-in monitoring feature, flipping that "MONO" switch on the front of the unit should do the trick.

You will need to turn of input monitoring direct with the Tascam unit - Use the mon mix knob, upper left part of the unit, turn it entirely to computer. Then you won't hear what's coming in on the left input until it's routed through RB. RB SHOULD take the mono input and pan it center.

Hey lookie there... a MONO switch ! When'd that get there ?  Thanks Kent ! I was hoping to be able to leave the MonMix knob fully clockwise on computer (best output level). But for tracking I'll have to adjust...dang... I hate adjusting. I wanna do it MY way  Can't we get an input fader with panning ?  I tried turning off ASIO Input Monitoring but that did not work so well. Want to hear when I'm not recording and also want to use IM effects (reverb) etc while monitoring. Could not monitor even while recording so I must not be doing something right with that technique (no surprise). ..it's always somethin' I guess ?!

In M-Audio mixer software playback panning is easily done. Not sure in Tascam. Look around in the mixer, see if that input channel is panned somewhere. If so, center it. May require unlocking stereo pairs .. if available.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
