The music and lyrics are both very good, but they are an odd pairing. The music sounds very celebratory and the lyrics are very dark. It is certainly a very interesting approach. Mix and vocals are excellent!! Enjoyed this! Take care. Greg Hi Greg. Thank you for your kind comments. Rob

Rob,
Another great tune! You are on a roll!
You have such a unique sound - perfect choice of tracks, great vocals and BGVs, and a great mix (from what I can hear on my earbuds. Hi Curt. Thank you for the encouragement. Rob

You are totally believable as a bluegrass band, and the vocals are vintage excellent! I like the little BG vocal echoing near the end I might make the banjo and fiddle breaks a bit up in the mix, but otherwise just sounds great! Great listen, and you have mastered the ability to channel the American musical past. Hello MGW. many thanks for your encouraging comments. Rob

Enjoyed that! Nice use of the bluegrass tracks coupled with fine harmony and vocals.

J&B Hey guys. Glad you liked the song. A casim is normally opened up by and earth quake. Probably spelt wrong as it confused spell check as well. Regards Rob.

indeed, one of the winners of this years song writing contest at Merlefest in Wilkesboro NC was from Australia! On a different note: I agree with Greg that the upbeat tune mixed with very dark lyrics seems a bit strange to my musical sensibilities... but that may have been more common in pioneer days when difficulty was a common and expected part of life, and their folk music was the primary tool for buoying their spirits to get through it And I also agree with whoever it was who said that you did a great job of capturing an Americana feel for the song. Although, there were different chord patterns in vogue during the civil war period. Your pattern is a bit more modern. In order to really capture the era, you'd almost have to research the music of that period and craft the chords around whatever was popular in the day. Think Stephen Foster. But, lest this come across as a critique (not my intent) let me say that I'm a big fan of your productions, and this song is no exception! Great job!

Thanks for the tip on Stephen Foster. I had no idea he wrote all those wonderful songs. I always value what you have to say and appreciate all your comments. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Kind regards Rob.

Hi Rob, What a great listen! Everything sits really well in the mix (to my ears anyway). Bluegrass always grabs my attention. It's one of the best genres ever invented. All the best, Noel

Rob, You nailed it. And this is subject worth retelling. We still feel the impact of the Civil War even if most of us don't know the history very well. SD
