A little song about a road. WAV: https://90dbband.bandcamp.com/track/river-roadMP3: https://soundcloud.com/90-db/river-roadRiver Road ©2016 Robert Randall Burke Down by the river late at night Silver moon's the only light That shines on you Gazing in your azure eyes You know it made me realize I love you. Way out here on River Road You can leave that crazy City life behind you Way out here on River Road The one that seeks you out Will never find you. Now before me, here you stand Your broken halo in your hand And cryin' I can take away your strife And show you there is more to life Than dyin'. Way out here on River Road You can leave that empty life Behind you Way out here on River Road You can come and cleanse your soul And start anew. Way out here on River Road You can leave that crazy City life behind you Way out here on River Road The one that seeks you out Will never find you. WOW, the forum is on fire today!! This is absolutely wonderful!! My new fave of yours-you're constantly knocking my old faves into second place. This is absolutely addicting and hypnotic. I hear some Springsteen and some Gordon Lightfoot (wouldn't expect to hear those influences in the same song).
Now before me, here you stand Your broken halo in your hand And cryin' I can take away your strife And show you there is more to life Than dyin'.
One of my favorite verses EVER!!
I love this---Can you tell?
Outstanding! Take care. Greg

I grew up not to far off River Road in Charleston. Spanish moss hanging from large oak trees. Your song paints just as pretty a picture. Enjoyed this one. Great melody and chord progression.

Great lyrics and a very captivating use of realtracks.
And I love that chord that seems to modulate the melody to a different key.
Well written all around.
much enjoyed!

Charlie, I had a "River Road" where I grew up as well. Of course, it was the Delaware River, not the Ashley! ![grin grin](/forums/images/graemlins/default/grin.gif) Happy 4th! Regards, Bob

Bob, I hear a definite Gordon Lightfoot reference here. I really like the way you went to the minor in the chorus and I liked the break near the end. Another fine tune. Tom

Love it Bob. For Bud it brings back sweet memories of what the locals called River Road when he was growing up in S GA.
We love the imagery, the vocal, and the arrangements is over the top interesting.
Janice commented that the interlude coming after the word "anew" was perfect and then the fiddle set the mood for as she said "that peaceful road."
In short a fine production and one to be proud of and one that is about to be added to our SC playlist!

I might be repeating myself ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) but... Super COOL, Bob! Your vocals are always strong - and this might be your best! Excellent write. "Now before me, here you stand Your broken halo in your hand And cryin' I can take away your strife And show you there is more to life Than dyin'." WOW. Excellent production. I like the break. The balance between the synth and steel is nice. The fiddle has a John-Anderson-Seminole-Wind-feel to it - Super! Thought the banjo should be a tad louder at the end. One of my 90dB favorites, for sure!!! Standing O on this. fj

Well done. A very intriguing piece of music with lyrics that match the mood. The arrangement is great. Thanks for posting the RTs you used. I may fiddle around with your "band" on a tune.

"Broken halo in your hand", what a super lyric! Actually I really liked the all of the lyrics. Your mix and vocals are top shelf and pro all the way!
Two thumbs up!

Bob, you never fail to deliver. Always providing quality material.
Sensational vocal, and a really perfect mix.
I was particularly impressed with the lyrics, and the instrumental break was the icing on the cake.
Great effort.
