Perhaps a "whole note rests" checkbox could be added in the upper left corner of the print menu, along with what is there (chords, notes, staff lines). That's a good idea, Matt. Ray, I can't see any way stopping the whole rests from printing, either. The only solution that pops into mind at the moment is to export the melody as XML and open it in MuseScore. I've done this a number of times and it works fine. MuseScore also reads MGU files directly.
