Moth Drawn To A Flame
© 2017 Kenny Leverett

I was down in the Southland
Outside of New Orleans
Felt like I was pulled by a spell
To some Cajun scene
An off the map hot spot
Some place I’d never been

Late night joint, hot as sin
Moving slowly to see if I could get in
When this long legged siren
Took me by the hand
We’ve been waiting for you darlin’
Come on in I’ll explain
What’s in your blood
Draws you like a moth to a flame

She’s got a heart so wild
That no man’s ever tamed
And that Louisiana bayou
Keeps calling’ my name
And I’m drawn to that girl
Like a moth drawn to a flame

featuring the Shevreport Shrimpettes

(play loud!!!)

Hell, yeah!!!! Man, I love this!!

Great groove, just pulls you right in. Lots of great lines here, and your voice is just perfect for this material!

The tone on the guitar solo is something else!! Bad to the bone.

"Play loud", yeah I did that, just about to do it again.

Awesome!!!

Hey man, you listened to Tony Joe White's latest (Rain Crow)? This song would fit right in on that great album.

You know J&B love the blues and this is a gift! Superb performance vocally and in the ax.

Janice says she can see Dr John on the organ with all his voodoo stuff on top of it smile

Strong potions here and we enjoyed it and will again and again.

Shuffle Blues with a baritone guitar in a minor key. Can't imagine a better bed for this lyric. Your voice is perfect for this - rough edges wrapped around a dynamic core. By the way - that's a compliment!

Smoking guitar! terrific song and an equally terrific delivery by you. Super in every way! Loved it.

let's just say this is highly to my liking! Great job on every aspect of this song! I like your vocals and the guitar playing is just the right kinda gritty. I also like the walking bass line and the way the organ interfaces with everything else. Great use of simile too.
