I entered a music contest last week. The goal was to translate a national or international hit in the Frisian language. A jury would select 6 entries that proceed to the next (final) round. In the final round the winner will be partly determined by popular vote. The price for the winner is to perform that song on a music night starring several artists for an audience of some 7000 people. I must anounce that I dd not make it to the next round. Here's a link to my entry anyway and I hope you'll enjoy it. I plan to release this song as a single regardless the fact that it didn't make it in this contest. Hi Mike - thanks for posting this. I was quite amazed at the quality level of your entry. Of all the six finalists - and I listened to all of them, yours was certainly the most current musically, very tight, lots of energy. The others seemed to be very "folky" in nature and even though ABBA is not from your country, I could definitely hear an ABBA flavour to several of the other songs. Of course I hadn't a clue what they were saying.  LOL Good luck with the release. Ian

Thanks for the listen and your kind remarks. @Iann: I would indeed be upset if some other competitors made the final round and I didn't, but I am fine with the ones that made it  . @Wiensam: You can never just translate a song. Ofcourse the flow and the rime have to be right, but also the use of language. There are things that cannot be translated and there are things that are simply not used in a certain way in a specific language or culture. For example the British English different in a lot of ways from the American English. I will re-record the song in a professional studio and release it. We'll see where it goes from there.

Sheeeesh! I don't even know what Frisian is. But I liked the drive and overall sound of it. You sure can hit those high notes Mate. Good on ya. I'll bet you got honorable mention, at least with that work. Hope it's a big success after you make the pro recording. Doubt they'll be able to do much better than you did tho'.
