Hello,
I'm a newby with BiaB 2017.
I used Primus-Software to create a MIDI-File (melody and accord) and imported it in BiaB to
play it with styles. BiaB is pretty cool and it works fine but i can't Change the melody track
Instrument. I tried it by changing the Instrument in the mixer but if I do so, the Melody is
gone and BiaB Plays something else. The original Instrument is piano.
I hope someone can help me...

Hi Rainer,
It sounds like you might be choosing a RealTracks instrument for your melody track? RealTracks will generate a new arrangement on your Melody track (based on the chords for your song, the same way they do for the other tracks). If you want to choose a new MIDI instrument to play the melody, right-click on the track | Select MIDI instrument, and choose a MIDI patch or HiQ patch.

within the mixer, right?
I can choose other instruments and they are displayed but the Sound doesn't change.

Can you save your problem file as MGU (or SGU if there is no MGU option) and then upload it to something like Dropbox. Then, if you can post a Dropbox link in this thread, we'll be able to download your file and give it a test run to isolate the problem.

My suspicion is that the MIDI file has an embedded patch change that is overriding the track setting. If you "import" a MIDI file from the Melody menu, you can tell it to ignore patch changes, but I don't think you can do that if you just "open" the MIDI file.
I would go to the Note Roll notation view, select the melody track, then select the "#" button to launch the BIAB event list. Look at the top of the resulting event list to see if there are any patch assignments from the MIDI file. Delete those entries and you should now be able to make changes using the mixer.
