My wife gets mad at me because I write a ton of them even though we've been happily married for almost 6 years now. Samuel - thanks for stopping by... Heartache/break-up songs are generally easier to write - so writers tend to do more of them. They are full of emotion and regret and sorrow and vivid images (as long as the write has the wherewithal to get that down on the page)...and beer, of course.. It is way more difficult to write upbeat positive love songs (that aren't just a bunch of fluff).
