seems that 2018 version of realband has some major issues. It destroys my seq files. I get a error message when I try to save my seq file and then when I try to play it I get nothing but static. It's wiped out several of my seq files and now I'm afraid to use it any further fearing it will just wipe out more. I have tried calling pgmusic support team but they have no solution to the problem....so I'm done with 2018. I'm going back to 2017 or earlier until I find a version that dosen't destroy my seq files.

The static may be the result of using the new Windows Audio Driver, or you may need an updated ASIO driver. Or just change the buffer settings, which can also generate static or noise.
I'm not sure what you mean by wiping out your SEQ files. If you would like to post one of these "wiped out" files on Drop Box, I'd be happy to take a look, because RB 2018 has been pretty rock solid for me.
Just because you might be hearing some weird sounds through your speakers doesn't necessarily mean the underlying tracks are screwed up. Give us more information and maybe we can help out.

When I say wiped out ...I mean destroyed...unusable....kaput! Whenever I try to modify a pre-existing seq file and add a track or modify it in any way....I can't save the changes and when I try to load it up again....all I get is static....that means the seq file was destroyed.
All I get are error messages when trying to save or load my seq files. I've tried to send my seq files to support@pgmusic but they can't do anything....so now what?

Post one of the corrupt SEQ file on DropBox and PM me the link and I'd be happy to take a look at it and will report back either way. At least it will be a different copy of RealBand loading it.

Also, your files are not usually 'lost' .. RB makes a backup of the previous version so you can revert back after you save. This requires using the File-Open Special or File-Open Backup depending on the version.
A copy of your original SEQ file is saved to revert back to, as long as you don't create too many of them to where the 'good' file is lost. These settings default to the "\RBBackup" folder the program runs from; many times it's the C:\RealBand\RBBackup folder.
TBH this sounds like a bit rate mismatch has occurred with the new settings; like 24 bit vs 16 bit .. or maybe 16/44 vs 16/41. Anyway, as long as you don't save too many times and wipe out that backup, the original file may exist once you get things sorted between the interface settings and RB settings.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
Yes ...I know all about the backup files.....I just totally erased all of my BB and Realband folders off my computer and re installed my 2015 version....everything works perfect....no error messages....tomorrow I'll upgrade to my 2017 version...and if that works out good...then I'll try 2018 one more time....I'll keep ya posted....

When you get back to 2018, just double-check that 'Run as administrator' is set. When I installed 2018 my 'Run as admin' setting got turned off in the process. I'm not sure what happened that caused this. Setting the audio driver to MME first off is another good starting place.
Also, when you save your file, use 'Save As' and a new name so that you don't overwrite existing material. While this will add and extra SEQ file, the added file can be deleted at a later date. In addition, having a second file will allow the two files' file sizes to be compared.
Noel96.....yes...all good advise. I have run RB as an administrator....believe me I've been round and round with the support group but nothing seemed to help. Maybe after all these years of upgrading to newer versions screwed something up. By erasing everything off my computer and starting from scratch seems like it's working....I'll keep ya posted...wish me luck. Today is upgrade to 2017.

As jford mentioned, introduction of the WAS driver is one of the big differences between BIAB 2017 and 2018.
There have been a number of instances on these forums where that driver has not been friendly with some computer systems. This is why I recommended setting RB's audio driver to MME after installing 2018. It's the best starting place. If it works with MME, then try ASIO and WAS and see how they go.
OK....2017 was a success....no problems....now i'm going to try to upgrade to 2018....one last time....keep all your fingers and toes crossed for me....here it goes.

Noel, Using Save vs Save As - I don't think your disk space needs to expand any more no matter which you choose, due to how RB saves files, and you don't need to clutter up your working folder with different versions. Examples below using each option.
Save As - makes a new file. Previous file accessible and new file too. Uses twice as much space as the original file (unless other editing changed the size significantly).
Save - RB marks the original file as a Backup (using the same amount of disk space as if you left it there by using Save As) by renaming it with the .bak extension in a new location. Then RB saves the new version of the file.
Therefore so far they both have the same space requirements. Now if you save the file again; RB makes another backup with a datestamp and goes thru the same routine.
So you end up with a history of the song with dates. Using Save As takes a little more work to keep this history in order.
You can control how much disk, and how many versions you want RB to keep, so you also get the benefit of not forgetting about 4 versions of a song from last year consuming space; RB drops the oldest file in the backups if you haven't reached the number of revisions for a given song, but did push the max limit. I think it's pretty cool and has been handy more than once here.
"I like how it sounded 2 weeks ago" .. OK .. open backup from 2 weeks ago ..
Images below are from machine I happen to be on .. the settings vary per machine
Anyway, taking a little time to set up your RB backup structure can remove the need for renaming and cluttering, and also limit the disk space used if you get lazy (or apprehensive) about deleting older projects/versions.

Yes... I agree....my brother Hans does this...I tell him not to do this cause it's very confusing to figure out which version is the one you want and takes up a lot of disk space.
anyhow....I installed 2018 again and everything seems to be working....Yeah....finally! I must have had a corrupt file in one of the folders in either BB or Realband but now everything is all cleaned up and seams to be working....I'll have to do some further testing but it's looking good so far.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help....

Well I bypassed my Virus protection program to exclude BB, Realband and my seq folders. Then I began working on a Song called "Dear Woman" changing a "Style" then I get this error message....

Windows 10 - RealBand 2020:Build(3); Xtra Styles PAKs 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8; 64 bit Intel Xeon CPU E5-1620 v3 @ 3.50GHz; 4 TB HD; 550 GB SSD PCIe Drive, 16GB Memory. Behringer UFX1604 Digital Mixer.
Also, when you save your file, use 'Save As' and a new name so that you don't overwrite existing material. While this will add and extra SEQ file, the added file can be deleted at a later date. In addition, having a second file will allow the two files' file sizes to be compared.
Anyway, taking a little time to set up your RB backup structure can remove the need for renaming and cluttering, and also limit the disk space used if you get lazy (or apprehensive) about deleting older projects/versions.
rharv,
Thanks for all this information. I haven't played around with the backup ability of RB very much and I appreciate your insight.
If this was me, I'd try emailing the error and the seq file (or if too large to email, a link to the seq file at dropbox) to support. Their email address is on the Support page in the main menu above, or better yet try Live Chat.
Live Chat is sometimes a very quick way to get a response and it feels like you've moved to the front of the line.
The section of the last error message you posted says "Access violation at address 009B052E in module 'RealBand.exe'. Read of address 00000210. Exception address: 009B052E" This may mean something to the development team, but us users would have no idea what it is .. yet it can sometimes be a key bit of info for the programmers.
That section does say it happened in Realband (sometimes these exceptions happen in a different dll (feature/app/plugin) being run, but this one does seem to point to RB as the issue for you.
I think I recall you saying that Dropbox files you share with your brother seem to have issues quite often, maybe this is related (?) Any correlation? If so, this may also be a good clue for support.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
