So, I'm working on my new xmas tune and wouldn't you know it.... for some reason my Midi refuses to work. I wanted to add bells, big bells, and gongs and all sorts of midi things..... but no joy.

A few possibilities exist....

1. I have totally forgotten how to set up midi since I haven't used it in years. Not very likely since it runs by default when I insert a synth.....

2. My midi keyboard isn't sending midi or it's on the wrong channel. Also not likely since the interface has little lights that flash when midi data is moving on the wires. And.... I have 2 midi keyboards and neither one seems to send the data.

3. My midi cable is bad. But I ohmed it out and is seems to have continuity.

4. My interface midi input is shot. Most likely the culprit. No flashing lights on the saffire. That interface is old.

So.... I'm ordering a new cable and perhaps an adapter to send the midi straight to the computer USB port and bypass the interface..... anyone using such a setup? Referring to the USB midi 5 pin adapter cable.
