That's one possibility but it is more likely that it's necessary to set what channel the keyboard transmit ' midi out'
.
Also, check that the sound in Keyscape is set to MIDI channel 5. Since Keyscape is a non-general-midi instrument, this is most likely needed.
For example, when I use Sampltank on the Melody track, I need to set the sound in Sampletank to play on channel 5.
Another possibility to try is to enter "Options | Preferences | Channels" and change the 'Thru' channel to 1 (it should presently be set on 5). This might work, and channel 1 should be free to use.
A lot of the times, when there is no sound coming from MIDI, it usually means a channel mismatch (for example, the keyboard transmits midi-out on channel 1 but the VST is set to receive sound on midi-in channel 2).
