The best for me is Sigur Rós - I saw them in Vancouver in 2016. It was beautiful and haunting, and my goal is to see them again or see some other artists that top that experience.

As for shows I missed out on - there's been tons that didn't pan out for various different reasons. Usually because of finances, or typical adulthood getting in the way. That two major ones that come to mind are Mogwai and Radiohead. Both bands I love but it just didn't pan out. They are both still touring so I'm hoping I'll see them eventually though.

Cheers,
Deryk

Hey Pat, one of the last times I played in a band other than worship bands was with Juan John DeHoyos, who is playing at MerleFest this year.

He is a McPherson guitars endorsed artist.

I went to see Ed Sheeran last night. Out of this world. Just him on stage performing to 65000 people. With just voice, guitar and a loop pedal he seemlessly managed to create a wall of sound to fill the entire stadium and get everone rocking. Amazing. The work he has done to bring himself to that level is unimaginable.

Btw. On “Perfect” he hardly sang or played at all. The audience did it for him.

Chris Boti at the San Jose Jazz Fest. a year ago. After an amazing outdoor 1-1/2 hr. set, he sent the large group backing him home, and his quartet did another 45 minutes and Chris played out in the audience.
Another was as an “artist” at the North Sea Festival I walked backstage as far as the wings to watch Stan Getz. While standing there a gentleman brought a folding chair in front of me and within minutes Diane Shure was also enjoying Getz. She later joined him on stage.

The Eagles, Rick Nelson , Brooks and Dunn, Jimmy Buffett. These were some favs. Believe it or not, one of the best shows I ever saw was Billy Ray Cyrus. In a club in San Bernardino Ca he did an hour, then took a break and the Nelson boys (ricks sons) did 30 minutes and the Billy Ray rejoined them and they went another 45 and it was really good.

I've been going to concerts since the early 70s so have seen many, many great shows over the years.

Hard to pick just one, but seeing as that was the question I would have to say the first time I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan really stands out as a show I will never forget.

He was just starting to get some recognition after playing on David Bowie's "Let's Dance" album, but was still playing the smaller venues in support of his first solo album, "Texas Flood".

We saw him in a small club in Toronto, we were probably six feet from the stage, and he absolutely tore the roof off the place, just amazing guitar playing from start to finish. This would have been in the 80's sometime, don't remember the exact year.

Ah, what I wouldn't give to have gone to a concert like that. I used to listen to led Zeppelin all the time. I imagine seeing them live was a real treat.

This was before Robert's voice lost its power. The concert started with The Immigrant Song, and you could hear Robert's wail a second or two before the PA grabbed it and blared it out. The hair on the back of my neck stood up as I realised how powerful his voice was, turned to my brother sitting beside me, went "Holy f-" and then the PA and amps kicked it, and it was sheer bliss for the next two and a half hours. Most exciting concert I've been to, and I've been to many since then.

Several folks are mentioning Led Zepplin...... they came to Philly in 72 and played the spectrum. My friends and I had a choice.... go to the Led Zepplin concert that warm June night..... or..... go to our high school graduation, also scheduled on the same evening.

Our mothers were in tears.... "we struggled to put you through school all these years and THIS is how you repay us?" I think we wisely decided to skip the concert and make our mom's proud to see us walk the stage and receive our diplomas. The other buddies in our hangout group of friends who went to the show ragged us for weeks telling us how good The Zep show was..... yeah yeah yeah, we know..... now shut up already.

Never saw them live..... but did see the song remains the same movie several times.

BTW: if you record the song Stairway to Heaven from the live concert on that movie, and play it backwards..... yep, I did this..... it does have the words "Satan, my sweet Satan" audible in it.... starting with the section.... If there's a bustle in your hedgerow.... try it.
