He was 73 chronologically, but he really put his body through a lot. His battles with mental illness were well documented. Another great talent that life did not treat well. So many of these stories anymore. Puts me in mind of the old joke that is more truism than joke, that "If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself when I was young." Sadly by the time we understand that, it's too late. Heavy smokers dying from lung cancer (Bowie), cocaine users dying from heart attacks (a LONG list), drinkers dying from alcohol related problems (Gary Moore), other from prescription drugs (Prince).... Much that people do when they are young simply can't be reversed by stopping whatever their vice of choice is. Makes me really sad that people don't treat themselves better. I guess riches make it easy to go there. Losing people like this makes me glad to be poor sometimes. I can't afford vices.
