Derek, Venice is beautiful. Be aware of when you go because that water gets a funk to it when it's really hot. I was there in early July long ago and it was okay, but that was a lot of years back. When you go to the Rialto Bridge you will run into a lot of hustlers selling knockoff items as genuine. Bargain them down REALLY hard. My then girlfriend, later wife, now ex #3 paid WAY too much for a purse there because she insisted on doing it herself and paid asking price. Buy shoes while you are there. Great Italian leather shoes for next to nothing. Venice has THE best outdoor market I have ever seen. Many floors with seafood that came out of the water earlier that morning.


Thank you for the explanation - I'm not well traveled at all, much to my dismay. I did have a big international trip planned for this year actually, but due to covid it fell by the wayside. I do try my best to remain realistic about places and not over-glamorize them, since I know the other side of the world isn't some magic sparkly place that's perfect and wrapped in a bow. But I do value experiencing other cultures...one day!
