Hello BIAB users
I am a southern gospel singer and I am a beginning songwriter using the BIAB product. I love the rock & blues music that came out of the 50s and early 60s. In other words music that would have came out of Memphis and/or done by artists like Elvis and Ricky Nelson. I am want to write some original gospel songs with this in mind. What Real styles should I focus on to achieve my goal.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. A good place to start is the StylePicker. Open it up and then, in the top right corner where it says "Type in a familiar song title", type Elvis or Ricky Nelson (artist names work too), and you should see a list of songs. Double-click on one and the list of styles is updated with the ones that PGM thinks best match the chosen song. You can then double-click each style to preview them. While the suggested styles don't always match perfectly they are a good place to start! Another option is to click the Clear button in the StylePicker and then click the Category dropdown. Now go to the bottom and select Subgenres and click Gospel. You'll get a list of gospel styles that may work for you.

There's a bunch of styles that should be agreeable to what you are looking. As pointed out above.... use the search function for the names of the artists and you can also enter the title of a song and get good returns for compatible styles. That helps to narrow the search field if it has a title hit. THat's often where I start... with the song title....and I move up from there if there's no viable hit on a title.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Thanks everyone for your help. Now I'm wanting to upgrade from my 2018 version of BIAB pro version to one of the 2022 versions of BIAB. I mostly write songs with the blues, rockabilly and country styles and would like some advise on which version I should consider. Pro, Mega or Ultra Pak? thanks

Pro, Mega or Ultra Pak? thanks The best answer is to get the biggest package and as much bonus and extra content you can afford. Since you currently have the 2018 ProPAK I'm sure you have encountered N/A many times in the Style, RealTracks and RealDrums pickers. The more content you obtain the less you'll encounter N/A. The content can cross genres pretty well in most cases. The additional styles are inspirational and help you understand how program features can be used.

UltraPAK! It has 3,300 RealTracks compared to only 850 for Mega and 550 for Pro. You will NEVER regret having all of those amazing RealTracks instantly available for your songwriting!

Thanks for the help. Hi. I've had a lot of success doing covers by typing in the chords to the song FIRST, then looking in Stylepicker to see if the style for the song exists. I have this video on my channel that shows my technique. I can't guarantee that it will work for the songs you want to do but I have found that doing it this way gets me pretty close. https://youtu.be/xWL_owkQgqU

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
