OP justanoldmuso Veteran J Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 2,750	HEADS UP…RE REALBAND AND MP3. Ive been gradually going thru rb 2022…and came across something mp3 wise. Converting from wav master to mp3 for uploading a new song to soundcloud … The mp3 sounded really nice …and i was happily surprised… So i called support. It looks like something changed in rb since my previous version of rb from a couple of versions back. The same wav converted to mp3 using another convertor sounded inferior frankly. anyway do your own independent tests. best om New Song "PRETTY GIRL" for my wife...Dec 2023 (my vocs....mixed for good earbuds.) https://soundcloud.com/alfsongs/prettygirlrbfinalcalfsongsdec2023mp3 (and rock song THE STALLION and bluegrass song... rayc Veteran Joined: Apr 2016 Posts: 6,326 Cooran Queensland Australia	You'd be FAR better off uploading a .wav or equiv. file to soundcloud. There're few reasons to use MP3 these days unless one's internet speed is extremely poor. There're a few different algorithms for compression and truncating to create an MP3...there's always been a significant difference between them. "Quality" could be a matter of the bit rate setting, whether it's using LAME, Blade, FhG or similar & whether it's constant, (high at 320 or low at sub 100), or variable bit rate etc. ALL MP3s use a psychoacoustic stage in their compression/decompression...that's always a worry.
